I couldn't find the shuttle buses prior to the match so I ended up getting a taxi.

After the match, I asked various stewards and police officers where the buses back to the centre went from. None of them knew (!) so I ended up walking. Took about half an hour. I suppose the walk did me good.
After a result like that, I didn't mind.

It was - a goal down after about 11 seconds too.

Jermaine Wright scored against us in under a minute the season after too, for Millwall, also in a 2-1 Burnley win. Future Premier League winner Nathan Dyer scoring for us.

And later in the season when he scored for Millwall, he also scored in under a minute against us for Southampton but the goal was credited as a Phil Bardsley own goal.

It's 2.2 miles each way according to Google Maps. At least it's reasonably flat.

That’s an unbelievable reply from the stewards and police, I think they have just chosen not to tell you.
The buses run from Sovereign St in the city centre, less than 5 mins walk from the rail station, they run from 90 mins before ko and return after the match from Elland Road (opposite corner to where away fans are housed)

Good to know. I ended up driving as I always have before as I’d read somewhere that it was an hour walk back to the station. With the early KO, etc I thought I wouldn’t chance it.

It's an easy walk in terms that it's flat but it's not a short walk. I think it was close to 2:50 when we came out of the ground and we were at the station for 3:43 and we didn't rush it. First time I've done it for a first team game, my only concerns were my old body and legs.

That ties in with exactly what I’d read (forget where), thanks for confirming.

I don’t mind a walk but for a 12:30 KO it just added a bit of extra uncertainty and my lads often don’t feel comfortable so I went with what I knew this time. Good to know for future though.

You need to get an UTC scooter Tony, in claret and blue, with Burnley flags (shop bought ones, of course) flying off the back

Also thoroughly agree with this.

If I’m honest, I’ve been a bit bemused by all the Leeds hype and expected us to be far more competitive, but we showed great resilience and togetherness. I expect that will have done the team so much to build confidence.

Also a great point made by Tony that 6 of the starting 11 weren’t Burnley players vs Sunderland. I hadn’t clocked that. Illustrates the great job Parker is doing so far.

Yes NewClaret, to think most of the team had only played together on the training ground before the game the way they all dug in and grafted for each other was great to see and sets us up for a great season.

No - it was Leeds United. Leeds City was dissolved in 1919.
