Re: Hannibal
Decent footballer but needs to be careful or he will get himself sent off...

Koleosho got plenty of abuse as well, it's just that Hannibal reacted to the crowd. As someone else posted, we'd probably have done the same.
Mind you calling Trafford everything under the sun after being hit on the head with a missile was a bit uncalled for, but it's Leeds so not surprised.
Re: Hannibal
He worries me tbh. I dont feel he is offering enough yet for fans to be admiring his shithousery and would prefer that he concentrates on his job in midfield which was lacking for much of yesterdays game and some of that was due to him being on a yellow that was totally unnecessary. The winding up the Leeds fans could as others have said resulted in another yellow and a sending off or provoked an incident that could have led to an investigation and a lengthy ban. Winding up Home fans doesn't normally help in a division where we tend to get crap Homer referees. I did though have to laugh at the Leeds Comms comment of "he is making a bit of pillock of himself". I hope SP has a word.

It didn’t have a negative affect, it had the opposite, it made Leeds captain ampadou fly into a challenge after which he injured himself in the processquoonbeatz wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:19 amlol at negative. The only negative was the effect it had on the team’s performance as he was completely nullified by getting booked for his own stupidity.
Like I said, nobody near the incident was concerned with their player so why come from miles away to stick your head in someone’s face and risk a red card?
He’s a decent player and will be important for us at times this season but only if he’s playing football and not picking up unnecessary cards.
Hannibal to be booked was printing money yesterday and that isn’t a good thing.

Re: Hannibal
Agree with Quoon regarding his approach. Playing on the edge is fine - diving over it isn't.
I'm not sure right now he's in our strongest team. I suspect Cullen/Brownhill remains our first choice at tge heart of midfield, and i suspect our best team includes Flemming playing behind Foster. He's a great squad option though provide he can control himself.

Already explained the negative effect but happy to spell it out again and it certainly wasn’t on Leeds. Hannibal was on a tightrope after stupidly getting himself booked and as most people have said, he was ineffective from then on. He even pulled out of a couple of challenges in the 2nd half because of it.
He’s a decent player, just needs to concentrate on the football and keep himself out of trouble.

Re: Hannibal
well he cant be that bad if the contract 'add ons' are to be believed, a 50% sell on clause and a buy back option, Man u seem to think he is going to be something in the future they dont put that in for all the kids they sell - i honestly think he will become one of our best players over the season.
Re: Hannibal
I've heard this about Utd kids many a time, I wouldn't take any notice of it.what now ! wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 1:39 pmwell he cant be that bad if the contract 'add ons' are to be believed, a 50% sell on clause and a buy back option, Man u seem to think he is going to be something in the future they dont put that in for all the kids they sell - i honestly think he will become one of our best players over the season.
Lee Roche and Richard Eckersley spring to mind. Eagles was another but at least he was quite good
Re: Hannibal
I'll have a little wager if you want, I reckon Hannibal will be way better for this club than any of those 3, and eagles was pretty good

From the neck down he'll be an excellent addition to the squad.
From the neck up he'll need working on for a season or two.

It makes things entertaining and I’d say a lot of successful teams have a player you know is a walking red card.
Hopefully he has the wherewithal not to ruin games for us, and/or Parker manages him properly and pulls him off when on yellows, but with other very good option in those positions it doesn’t matter so much if he picks up suspensions.

I’ll be amazed if he’s come here to sit on the bench for very long, but you may be right.claretspice wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 4:22 pmAgree with Quoon regarding his approach. Playing on the edge is fine - diving over it isn't.

Former UEFA official, who I’ve never heard of and who is obviously a Leeds fan is calling for Hannibal to be punished by the FA for winding up their fans as he walked round the pitch. Don’t for one minute think anything will happen, otherwise they’d have to take action against every player who scores a goal and celebrates in front of opposition fans.

I think the Leeds fans started it when he walked off. If they can't take it they shouldn't have given it.

The Hannibal abuse goes back to 2020 during an FA Youth Cup game between Leeds and Man Utd at Elland Road, he clearly isn't bothered by it !Ric_C wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 12:58 pmhttps://youtu.be/AtnkO9eMaT0?si=7EtEnbyCt4ruw4Ye&t=440

Re: Hannibal
I like this type of player. Yes he's a risk and looks like a firework waiting to lit at times, but sometimes you need something like that to get the crowd and the team going.
A strong tackle,.a bit of a square up etc could be advantageous for us to raise everybody if we're having a frustrating afternoon against a defensive minded team.

That could have incited 20,000 people to become very upset.
Seems he is a Villa fan but is mainly just keen on making sure that everyone knows his slightly controversial opinion and that everyone knows he was a FIFA licensed official.
Re: Hannibal
Players can be punished for inciting opposition fans. Surprised Vardy gets away with it. It's not as though everybody loves his club.

Re: Hannibal
These are the fans who are delighted to be associated with Jimmy Saville, yet get offended by a player who played for Man U holding up his finger's to replicate a scoreline. Sad bunch.
