Jack’s back
Jack’s back
I see it’s now official that Jack Cork is back with the U21’s. It says player coach. Does that mean he’ll be available for the first team or can he play games with the young uns?
Re: Jack’s back
Just seen it’s just to play for the U21’s if they think it will benefit a young player. Great stuff.

Re: Jack’s back
I think he is player coach so he can play in the u21's, a lot of prem teams have old pros playing in/coaching younger age groups, makes sense so they can give in game coaching and help them learn from his experience. would be some injury crisis and probably never happen but not a bad option to have if the bench is paper thin or we have no recognised CM available and have to play a youngster in there with him at his side.

He isn't up to 1st team League football. If he was he'd have got a contract to do so. Can we put this one to bed now?

I might be completely wrong, but I have a vague recollection of Judas playing for our u21's against Liverpool u21's during his tenure? I'm 47 now and this must have been 14 years ago, so I've probably imagined it to be fair.

Re: Jack’s back
He was a model professional as a player and it sounds like he’s on the way to being a model professional as a coach.
It’s easy to forget sometimes that this is a player that got capped for England. He’s had a terrific career and I hope this is the start of a terrific career as a coach and eventually manager.
Best of luck, Jack.

Re: Jack’s back
Slightly surprised Jack didn't carry on playing full time for a lower end Championship club or a league one/two side as he'd clearly maintained his enthusiasm to actually play and I felt he may have hoped for another year or so pulling the strings somewhere, but maybe the offers weren't there. From what we know of his character I suspect he'll develop into an excellent coach and possibly manager in time. "Barnsey" on the other hand.......!!!!

Not sure how many games but I think he scored against Glentoran.

Agreed. I started a thread about it a couple of times since hearing it and it got deleted each time bizarrely.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 2:34 pmI think its fair to say its in the public domain since then....

Despite Jack's own interview hinting that he is no longer up to it? I'm glad you aren't in charge

If Jack Cork gets any minutes for our 1st team from this point forward, i'll donate a tenner to the charity of your choice
Re: Jack’s back
Can see Jay Rod following suit and getting involved in coaching when he hangs up his playing boots.

Coyle played for the reserves a few times, claiming it was so he could coach Jay.Cheshireclaret wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2024 12:45 pmI might be completely wrong, but I have a vague recollection of Judas playing for our u21's against Liverpool u21's during his tenure? He scored a cracker at Stanley and SKY showed it. Just found the link!
