Mission to Burnley 3 ....anyone in Garstang?
Several years ago now I told CT I'd return to Burnley if we got in the Premier League.
The travel to games from Sussex is expensive and time consuming. K O times often mean I can't make home matches.
The move didn't happen earlier for a number of reasons..... But finally the search has started.
Criteria 1 hour maximum from Turf Moor. Looking at a property in Garstang and going for 2nd viewing on Monday.
Is there any clarets there? Any advice if you are local?

Not in Garstang but previously had a caravan on the outskirts of town. It is a nice place to live with nice level walks along the canal etc. It has three reasonable supermarkets, Lidl, Booths and Sainsbury's, quite a few independent shops and some decent pubs. It doesn't seem to attract weekend "diXXheads" in the same way that Whalley and Clitheroe are doing. Nice people and a more relaxed atmosphere than in towns around East Lancs. I sometimes wish I could live there but property is generally more expensive than around East Lancs. There are a few Clarets around, including the guy who runs the woodyard at the main lights going into town.

I’m a Claret in Garstang, Bowgreave. There’s plenty of us around. Great banter with Rovers fans at the walking football on Monday evening and Saturday mornings.
It’s a brilliant town, very friendly. But if you can cope with the slow traffic due to the amount of pensioners driving around then you will be fine.
House prices are on the up and have been doing for quite a while now.
Cracking pubs and restaurants etc and not a lot of B Ellends around which is great - no big groups of lads.
Love it !

Heysham: gorgeous views across to the Lakes and easy access to it and the Dales : 55 min to Turf ,
Lancaster nearby.
Lytham is also good.

We are thinking of a property on Dimples Lane near the canal bridge?Bowclaret wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 12:03 pmI’m a Claret in Garstang, Bowgreave. There’s plenty of us around. Great banter with Rovers fans at the walking football on Monday evening and Saturday mornings.

No gangs ....quiet...couple of pubs ...Poulton train station on the doorstep about an hour to Manchester rd and about 10 mile from Garstang
Although when I lived there a pensioner made an electric chair in his garage to sit his wife in and subsequently succeeded in finishing her off.
Garstang is a lovely place nice canal walks.

A great place to live, but don't tell everyone
Not a bad commute for home games, and handy for the M6 for away games.
Coach wit Central Lancs Clarets is an option... and if we get enough support might be a stop between Lancaster and Bamber Bridge for pickups..
Di plus lane is a good location, handy for buses to Preston, Blackpool and Lancaster.. but a but of a trek to town centre pubs since the Church Inn closed

Grew up in Garstang/Churchtown. Lovely place, lots of good pubs etc. Easy for Lancaster/Preston/Blackpol. Handy for Burnley.
It's a town that's grown massively over the last 30 years and could really do with a Motorway junction off the M6 and upgrades on schools and infrastructure.
Good place to live and still have many friends around there!

I was sat next to and got talking to a gentleman at the Oxford game that lived in Crawley and came up for every home game. Is that you?turfytopper wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 11:18 amSeveral years ago now I told CT I'd return to Burnley if we got in the Premier League.

Lytham Claret here..1 hours drive to park up at Burnley Sainsbury's and property here is really quite affordable.
Beer and wine a bit pricey tho.

Going off the op title, I believe there won't be a MtB3. Apologies if anyone has previously posted this.

Re: Mission to Burnley 3 ....anyone in Garstang?
I relocated back to Burnley last year and now enjoy living in Barrowford. However , having had a pretty thorough “explore” in the last 12 months , I think if I could choose to live anywhere within reasonable travelling distance of the Turf I’d choose Hebden Bridge. Great place with loads going on and surrounded by glorious countryside and good canal walking. It’s probably more expensive there though.

As a long time resident of Hebden (so didn’t have to pay the big house prices now asked) I can confirm that it is a (really) fantastic place to live for 98% of the time. We do though have the same problem another poster has mentioned about Whalley and clitheroe. Weekends attract the knobs from miles around nowadays sadly. The rest of the time, including after about 930pm on a Saturday when they go and get the trains elsewhere, it’s brilliant.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 12:12 amI relocated back to Burnley last year and now enjoy living in Barrowford. Re: Mission to Burnley 3 ....anyone in Garstang?
Strangely no...... I didn't make the oxford game.......I had relatives visiting.
Was it a guy on his own called Andy ? If so I've known him 40 years.
My mate Lee was there he took his family....but getting to every home game is not possible for him. I'm still in Lancashire and return home on Monday night ....2nd viewing arranged. Then back up on Saturday.

Does the Central Lancs Clarets bus pick up in Lancaster? My son has just started at the uni and is finding the trains are often up the spout. And he hasn't run into too many other clarets yet (though early days).
