CJ
For me CJ was immense today both defensively and starting plays. Some of the balls he was pinging about the pitch to to both wings and central were sublime as much to say it’s his shirt to lose no matter who comes back from injury. I would even go as far as up there with Bellis.

Re: CJ
Egan Riley is a must better passer if the ball than Esteve but nowhere near as good of a defender but they make a good partnership

Re: CJ
Seems to be gaining confidence with each game he plays. Showed great technique with some of those passes today.

Played very well today. Defence is certainly not our problem.

Re: CJ
Some of the passes he played to Anthony in the first half were excellent

I've made the claim, I'll stick by it.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 8:24 pmHe would have to be tested at Premier League level before you can make that claim.
Both O'Shea and THB are outstanding players at Championship level

Still looks like a rabbit in the headlights when the opposition gets within 5 yds of him if he has the ball. Bellis was ok, maybe even a little better than that, but CJ isn’t even close to his level.
Some decent decisions today and definitely getting better with game time, (two great long range passes today) but today QPR were about as weak offensively as he’s likely to see all season so to suggest he’s the future considering the quality of those yet to return is stretching it a little.
Ok today. That is all. Beyer and Ekdal return CJ to where he really should be.
Doing ok at the moment, and I don’t wanna take anything away from the lad, but he’s limited, and it shows. People on here yapping likes he’s John McGreal…

I don’t think Egan Riley will end up a cb, and will end up playing in midfield

Re: CJ
One of the positives of the season, and despite the unnecessary s..t Parker is getting he was the one that saw his potential and persisted with him since the third game (after O Shea left)s

Like Harwood Bellis long balls to Zaroury. Zaroury made more of it though than what we saw today. Plus we had a centre forward then.ClaretAL wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 5:47 pmFor me CJ was immense today both defensively and starting plays. Re: CJ
I thought he was at fault in the moment QPR hit the crossbar - he allowed Chair (I think) to cut inside and have sight of of goal rather than sending him outside and blocking a cross - but other than that he was excellent and he used the ball well and with more ambition than we've seen previously. Really good to see.

Re: CJ
He’s growing in confidence every game.
He was one of those I’d have been happy to move on this summer but as it stands, Worrall will find it difficult to get back into the team.

Re: CJ
He’s improving all the time and looks very comfortable alongside Steve, who hasn’t been at his best recently.
We are in a very poor division and he needs testing before comparing him to O’Shea or THB.

He's definitely doing well, but let's be honest he hasn't really been put to the test yet. I do admire some of those long balls he was pinging around yesterday, very good.

Re: CJ
Probably the best story of the season so far.
Not sure anyone thought he would play any games, nevermind at CH? Probably 7th or 8th choice.
But he has taken his chance very well. Seems perfect for his role at the minute. Although it's more passing around the back than defending and he will have tougher tests.

I thought I saw him pinging a couple of top top passes yesterday but then I came on here and realised I must have been dreaming because we didn't get out of our half.

Hard to judge any of our lads in this league given who we have played and their rankings in the league as of todaybobinho wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2024 8:49 pmAverage.

Re: CJ
To be fair, i wasn't a fan earlier in the season but he definitely deserves the praise he's received for his more recent performances. That said he's certainly been helped by having a top half premier league quality (IMO) centre back partner in Esteve next to him.

Re: CJ
Whilst I agree with you about Esteve, CJ has some attributes where he’s better than Esteve. Namely progressing the ball.Foshiznik wrote: ↑Mon Oct 28, 2024 10:24 amTo be fair, i wasn't a fan earlier in the season but he definitely deserves the praise he's received for his more recent performances. Maybe this is just the nature of great partnerships though, they compliment one another?
Hopefully CJ will develop Esteve’s passing and Esteve will develop CJ’s defending!
