I attended the 2nd of the Nigel Benn v Chris Eubank clash at Old Trafford in 1993. Following a win by TKO by Eubank in their first meeting, the 2nd was billed as 'Judgement Day,'.

Around 45,000 tickets were sold and and I am sure that Stowe was on the undercard.

Could anyone confirm this ?

The Benn v Eubank fight ended in a draw. It was a strange day with having a plethora of beers prior to us getting our seats which were around about a kilometer from the ring.

Earlier we had encountered huge groups of Scots in the pubs l around Manchester. I didn't register anything at the time thinking that Benn would have Old Trafford roaring as Eubank was seen in the media as an arrogant showman.

Eubank came out to some serious noise from the hoards of Scotland's finest. I was a bit surprised at the level of support for Eubank as he presented as a strange extension of the EnglishPublic School system yet the reality was him having been excluded on a number of occasions from local authority schools.

There was mention that a number of his earlier fights had taken place in Glasgow, thus was the reason for his support from over the Border.

The stats indicate that Eubank plied his trade at a number of locations during his career.

Was there a countrywide ban on alcohol consumption in Scotland that day ?
