Very comfortable win and this team is clearly growing in confidence and nouse. We're gathering momentum at the right moment and most teams fear us, as seen by every team who comes to the Turf and just shuts up shop from the off. Another clean sheet - only 6 goals conceded in 17 games - and 2 good goals at good times. Thoroughly deserved.

Best performance of the season. Coventry are a good side and I would have taken a point before kick off, but we’ve made (we have made) them look like a pub side. UTC

If people can genuinely be anything other than pleased with this win and overall performance, then I just have no words.
Not spectacularly but a great solid win.
Are we really as much of an entitled fan base as a bunch on here seem to give the impression of?
Anyway. I’m happy with that result.

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
Completely strangled Coventry tonight. We’ve limited a decent side to 3 shots, 0.11 xG and scored 2 ourselves. Our first goal was a real beauty too.

Yep - can tell Parker has played under Mourinho because that was a Mourinho performance. Absolutely strangled them as you say.

Roberts easily MOM for me
Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
Bristol City fans and now Coventry fans saying how good we are at pressing in defence. Three men round the man with the ball so they can't get passes in.

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
I’m absolutely convinced if Parker gets this side up, it’s much better suited to survive a premier league season than Kompanys.
We are just so solid in defence. If we can get up and add two or three top quality players we will have a really good chance of staying up.
I know this style isn’t for everyone but I think especially in the premier league it will be really effective.

A "bog standard", totally dominant, regulation, run of the mill, totally comfortable, 2-0 home win. Something we've been really missing for ages now! I'll take it and I'll take a few more thanks!

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
I've no complaint with the table, or the result, but if we were pro active, less negative, we'd have beaten Oxford, beaten Blackburn, beaten Preston.dvalley69 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 9:36 pmSelf-defeating, hahaha.
Look at the table and our numbers compared to the others.
I guess you'd prefer being Norwich winning 6-1 every now & then, but being 11 points behind 2nd. Wake up and smell the coffee.
3 wins on the bounce and looking a lot more threatening and proactive in recent games. Improvements are being made. Some people just don't wanna see it.
There was an argument that we were a work in progress, and I supported that, but for much of our games, like the first half, I can't see the progress and I doubt most others do either.

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
Another job done. 2nd in the league now. Iron Curtain of a defence.
Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
I can see the progress in the players getting used to each other. It is the pace that gets me. If we upped it we would find more spaces, especially now the players are getting used to each other. We are doing ok though with some good players to come back from injury and, hopefully, a goal scorer coming in January.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:19 pmI've no complaint with the table, or the result, but if we were pro active, less negative, we'd have beaten Oxford, beaten Blackburn, beaten Preston.

Been a significant difference in our attacking play since the Millwall game in my eyes, which was followed by WBA away where we were denied by an inept decision; that would've given us 4 wins in 4 and joint top now. But people just wanna keep bashing us. Those games you mentioned were definitely in our growing pains period, but we've looked much better after Millwall.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:19 pmI've no complaint with the table, or the result, but if we were pro active, less negative, we'd have beaten Oxford, beaten Blackburn, beaten Preston.

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
That was a good solid win. 3 on the spin now. Onwards and upwards. Nothing but positive energy from that tonight.
Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
I can see plenty of progress. I thought our interplay was much better tonight than it was a month ago.
Our defence is ridiculous too. When Trafford went down injured I was genuinely worried he might be taken off. I would have never felt like that just 6 months ago.

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
I was surprised how terrible Coventry were, either that or we did a cracking job of not letting them play

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
What is obvious is there is a team camaraderie and belief growing, which is impressive considering how many new players.
It is also apparent that we are improving as they get more games under their belt.
It very much reminds me of the late 80’s early 90’s arsenal - the boring boring arsenal as they where called and the chant the gooners used to sing of 1-0 to the arsenal..
It was about control and not conceding , building on a solid base…
Going to be an interesting season. I suspect with us conceding the fewest goals but not in the top 5 of goals scored but having the best goal difference.. time will tell

Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
We are definitely improving on a game by game basis. If we can stop giving the ball away cheaply and add some more fire power up front we will be there or there abouts, especially if we strengthen well in January. Our defensive back five is absolutely outstanding at this level; if we can bring our forward players up to this level we will be well on track to have a successful season.

The guy behind us moaned and criticised for 90 minutes. He abused just about all our team. I don't know why some people bother going. He must have gone home completely miserable. He must be suicidal when we lose. (Or pleased perhaps?)
Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
Jimmy Mac lower is full of em. Constantly slagging individual's off. Complaining we pass it backwards. Shouting at parker to sort it out, when we are comfortably winning 1-0. Most literally have no clue about football, one of them moaning was telling his mate we have a striker on loan from Chelsea who was sat on the bench. I suspect he was confused about Humphreys and fofana from last year. Proper brain dead idiotHbclaret007 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:50 pmThe guy behind us moaned and criticised for 90 minutes. Re: Burnley vs Coventry (h) Match Thread
I'm not wanting to bash anyone, just giving an honest opinion. I agree we've looked better, but that improvement hasn't led to us working the opposition keeper anymore than before. As said above the pace we move the ball is far too slow, it's an easy fix just tell them to move it quicker, yet we seldom do. On the few occasions we do go quicker we look a different team altogether and could walk this league. That's why it's frustrating.dvalley69 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 10:25 pmBeen a significant difference in our attacking play since the Millwall game in my eyes, which was followed by WBA away where we were denied by an inept decision; that would've given us 4 wins in 4 and joint top now. You seriously think getting players to move the ball quicker is just by telling them to do it? Man, if football management was so easy. I suggest you get yourself on the ladder mate; you're gonna make millions coz it sounds like it's easy money.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2024 11:00 pmI'm not wanting to bash anyone, just giving an honest opinion.
