Roadworks started today on Eastern Ave near the petrol station this morning.
They were using Stop/Go boards when I went through but presumably there will be temp lights up this evening which might cause a few delays getting to/from the ground tonight if using that route.

Radio Lancs say M65 Junction 10 closed both ways by Police for a welfare incident - no comment about whehter you can use the bridge coming in from Padiham/Park Lane/Gannow

Yeah, noticed the traffic seemed to be moving quite freely down Queens Park Road/Eastern Ave after match last night Bosscat.

The roadworks and traffic control are back today though - they're working on a longer stretch from the T-junction near Heasonford school up to about where the small car park is on the right as you head towards town.

So far, they are doing the work during the day using Stop-and-Go boards so they can quickly move on to the next patch - in the evening it's clear.

I was in really good time last night. Pulled into Rosegrove chippy and then munched as I made my way to the roundabout. Police had blocked road and sent everyone down the motorway to Nelson! Missed the kick off. Grrr.

Gridlocked in Burnley again this morning, looks to be a problem around Westgate again but I didn't get that far, detour around Coal Clough then down Manchester Road.
Nothing moving towards Burnley from the M65 Bridge onwards.

Took me ages to get through town this morning, every rat run was really busy. Then you get to the designed traffic snarl ups, Town to Turf and the F in traffic lights near the train station.

Does anyone know what the works are that require a very busy road to be closed for 3 days?
There's nothing on the LCC Roadworks site.

It's chaos now, I dread to think at rush hour. There are also works going on, resurfacing, on Queen Victoria road near Netherwood road.

Fair enough, the work on Westgate is emergency repairs, however, the work on Eastern Ave is planned resurfacing work and couldn't have been started at a worse time for one of the town's main arteries - the run-up to Christmas is the busiest time of the year regarding traffic going into the town centre.

Our town centre businesses must be taking a hit. They had 20-months or so with the Town 2 Turf gridlock and now this - at the time of year when small to medium size businesses hopefully make the money that will tide them over the leaner weeks in Jan/Feb.

This work on Westgate has been
On and off in the same spot as this thread will verify.
Photos showing a slit trench across the road are on a number of Facebook groups.
I doubt it is an 'emergency' as such and more **** poor planning from United utilities and LCC as there's another Aldi planned for the land behind the Nissan dealership.
The communication to road users is pretty non existent and it's no wonder people get annoyed, stressed and peed off.

Constant stream of traffic ignoring the ROAD CLOSED signs & thinking it doesn't apply to them, then having to do a u-turn.....idiots!

To be fair it's not obvious where the road is closed. There are various junctions that are acessible. Unless you've been told or driven up there you really wouldn't know.

Instead of shutting westgate during the day every week I really don’t understand why they just fix the issue with a few overnight closures? Shutting the road during the week and especially during rush hour is ridiculous. It isn’t an emergency as they had the road up there two weeks ago. It causes mayhem and having traffic backed up all around town can’t be very ‘Green’.

The roadworks on Accrington road, outside the Kia dealership, complete with temporary! traffic lights have now been there for 4 months. They are laying an underground pipe across the road. How wide is a road , 5 metres? 4 months ?

Going to be fun tonight.....

Temporary lights on Tod Rd near the golf club, and Moseley Road closed (although it's supposed to be "residents" only people do use it particularly after the match)

This is unrelated to the level crossing works. It's currently closed from the Rock Lane junction upwards.

Finally finished. Just a shame they couldn’t lay the final top layer of tarmac level with the rest of the road. Its like a miniature speed hump.

I reckon there must have been a change in the law that insists even the most insignificant of works is required to have temporary lights.

A good business to be in.

Yeah, I'm hoping NH is right and someone's had a word and mentioned it would be daft to start tonight and they've delayed it until tomorrow. Just needs a bit of common sense. if it does start tonight, they could just put the start back by 30-60 mins.
