My first away game on a coach without a parent,Carlisle in 1981, i was 13. Snowed heavily and the knackered old Viscount Central coach only just made it to the M6 at Kendal. Went in a pub with the neighbours who took me, shortly followed by a fight outside with a few Carlisle fans.

We were in the covered terrace down the side, loved the atmosphere and joining in with songs with 'naughty words'that would normally get me a clip round the ear. Sadly it went downhill from there, sure they went 3-0 up before we pulled couple back late in the game.

Boxing Day 1972 was a brilliant day out to Blackpool, Horrible match but a special day out.
That is one of my all-time favourite Burnley games. Great win, sendings off, huge away following.
Also Boxing Day 1978 is forever in my heart - saw my dad alive for the final time on Christmas Day evening, and his last ever words to me were "Give the lads an extra shout for me tomorrow son." And I certainly did as we beat Rovers 2-1 at the Turf.

I attended a Christmas party in Rochdale. The following morning I enjoyed a champagne breakfast prior to being picked up by my mates outside the Cemetery Pub for a trip to watch the Clarets at Chesterfield.

My mates were delayed which resulted in me being absolutely drenched in some sort of monsoon before they arrived.

I was just about drying out when we saw the team coach travelling in the opposite direction on the motorway. The game was off due to the adverse conditions.

Undeterred, we then headed to Hillsborough to watch Sheffield Wednesday v Wolves. There is one section at the corner of the home end which is uncovered. This is where we had to stand.

I got completely peed wet through again. Upon leaving the ground we were beaten up by groups of both Wednesday and Wanderers supporters.

We stumbled back to the car to have a leaving present of a parking ticket.

I'll remember this one for a while. Currently laid up bedbound in Blackburn Royal with 3 fractures to my left leg, awaiting an operation to repair, probably on NewYears Eve. 14 hours wait on a stretcher in a corridor with nigh on 100 others at some points, staff saying it was their worst day ever.
Glad others have happier stories :)

Is that about where the corner flag is? On the right side of the Kop?
That's where I ended up watching the '74 semi in all those bloody Mags. :D

Yes, it was at the right side of their Kop.

I'm sure that the terrace was uncovered in 1974.

What on earth were you doing in the Newcastle end ?

It was uncovered up until the late 80s/early 90s.

Lol
My Grandad got the ticket for me in Rawtenstall from a shop who sold our tickets.
There was a mix up when the FA sent them out. There were a load of Clarets on the Kop. Most gradually went down onto the pitch & were escorted to the Leppings Lane end. A load of Mags were escorted up in the opposite direction. I stayed with a Mag & his mates who decided to protect me! Lol
They got me drunk later at Sheffield station & the big led carried me to the bus stop & put me on the Buxton bus!
I was only 16!

A Willie Irvine hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Fulham in 1964.
A game against Stoke but I’m not sure if it was Boxing Day ‘67 or the 28th Dec. ‘66. The reason I can't remember is we never saw a thing. Blanket fog and should never have kicked off. The rule used to be the ref stood on the halfway line and had to see both goals, well he couldn’t.
I wasn’t on but I’m surprised nobody has mentioned the 1-2 win at Deadwood in ‘78. Fletch & Uwe scoring our goals.

1977 v Blackburn.

I was only a young kid (8 year old) and had a ground season ticket with my dad. There was a family 'do' that day and my dad thought that it would be better off me missing the match due to the likelihood of it kicking off.

I was devastated. However, a family member from Cumbria took me in the Cricket Field Stand.

Yes. there was trouble all over the place. It was brilliant !

Rovers had filled their section of the Long side and there were a fair few in the CFS. The rest of the ground was Burnley. I think that the attendance was around 27,000.

We were 3-0 down at half time and it could have been 4 had Stevenson not saved a penalty early in the second period.

I think that we scored 2 late goals.

The walk back to my house from the Turf was 'interesting'.

Children should be exposed to this sort of thing from an early age.
