Last man standing on the Longside
There was a heated debate in the pub before the match today as to who was the final Burnley fan to leave our beloved terrace following a game against Hull City before demolition.
There were a few names being banded about and all sorts of tales of these fans hiding in the bogs at the back of the terrace or even hanging from the rafters underneath the roof.
Can anyone conclusively verify the person in question ?
Alternatively, was it you ?

It was old Arthur, the chap who swept up after the match.

Surely not the one who is more interested in the pub than the footy?

Re: Last man standing on the Longside
The tall bloke was actually present during the discussion and was very coy about any involvement he had in the affair.
Some of his acquaintances stated categorically that it wasn't him and put forward a number of named individuals.
There were some spurious claims that the tall bloke was paid by a more diminutive fan to throw him onto the terrace from behind the pie / beer outlet at the top of the Longside / Bee Hole End corner whilst the Ground Safety Officers were looking the wrong way.

DG I was on the edge of the discussion but there are other candidates, I travelled yesterday with Dave Beaston and he lays claim to the Last Man. Also, Joe Wells was found asleep a day later in the urinals so he could be the last man. It's a tricky one, Gordy, retired teacher, DB even Dark Cloud was knocking about.

My claim to fame is that I was the first person to get served at the bar in the new Jimmy MAC stand lower on its opening day. The woman behind the bar who served me verified this.

Someone would need to find Sammy to verify if he was there or notBlue Skies wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 7:19 pmDG I was on the edge of the discussion but there are other candidates, I travelled yesterday with Dave Beaston and he lays claim to the Last Man. Re: Last man standing on the Longside
He has claimed it was him, but he's also argued with a chap from the Stoke on Trent area who's authored a number of books about following Burnley, but who's name escapes me, who claims it was him!
I don't THINK the argument centres around the last match, but the following day (Sunday) when the ground was opened for people to visit one last time (I did with my small son) and who was last to leave then. Demolition started the next day (Monday).

If you're including non match days then the demolition workers will win hands down.

Re: Last man standing on the Longside
The Longside bogs were a haven of hygiene in comparison with those that lurked behind the back of the Bee Hole End.
Fully enclosed, stinking of urine and packed with heaving, sweaty, farting fans at half times, the temperature in there often exceeded 100 degrees. Added to that there was a 1 foot torrent of **** which cascaded onto the steps outside.
