Re: Pace on Tresor
This extremely expensive soap opera has to end.
The "illness" today is about as believable as the dead leg.
Enough is enough. They cannot keep putting this stuff out there and remain credible. There can't be many fans left now who are still buying this nonsense?
The manager has said he's available. The Chairman has said he's fit. That's weeks ago. We're not scoring. It's an inevitable ask where he is?
At some stage there's got to be a legal angle to this like there is with every employee. If he's refusing to play there must be a point where we don't have to pay him?

Re: Pace on Tresor
It appears to be complicated, but as a minimum the club should be able to fine him if he is refusing to play. If he is claiming injury or illness then the club can insist that the club medical staff will make that assessment and be a judge of that claim

Rumour has it that Tresor isn’t the only player refusing to play. Another player recently refused to play in an under 23’s game in a quest to gain some match fitness, word is we won’t see him play for us again either.

He could quite easily play and put in the sort of abject displays that hinder the team and further reduce his perceived worth.warksclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 6:33 pmIt appears to be complicated, but as a minimum the club should be able to fine him if he is refusing to play. Seemed to be what he was doing last season, he was that crap!
Re: Pace on Tresor
Can't dock his wages, just like they can't dock yours when you're ill.
I think even a loan with someone picking up his wages would be good right now. Any serious bid over £8m I'll just take it.
He's young enough, and a good enough reputation in Europe that someone would pay up for him.
Say goodbye to a bad smell

Right back by any chance ?
Re: Pace on Tresor
Contracted to 2028
What's the betting that wherever he goes we will still have to subsidise his wages up to that contract amount if any new club can get him on the cheap
And there are a number more who are contracted for a few years yet but will likely never play for us again

Re: Pace on Tresor
Im with Mr Pace on this one and think we should be keeping him and looking to play him once fit. Sounds like he's had a torrid time with injury and illness but come the run in he could be the difference that gets us over the promotion line.

I’m sure Redmond had a game in u23s before making the bench.
Delcroix and Ekdal haven’t been on the bench for last two games so it must be one of them

I doubt we will ever know the full truth, much as we'd all like to.
I'm still not buying this refusal to play, as I can't believe the Club would have allowed him to be one of the faces for their Christmas promotional campaign pics, but it's clear there is far more to all this than simply illness or injury.

A lot of employers offer very little or even no sick pay, and folk end up on SSP. I highly doubt that is the scenario with his contract mind.GetIntoEm wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 6:55 pmCan't dock his wages, just like they can't dock yours when you're ill.

Why not? He's had F all else to do?

Because if it was true, he'd be persona non grata as far as the Club were concerned.
No way would they be letting him do that.

It was a joke, Fidel.
And more seriously, was the shoot taken before is (presumed) strike?

Don’t know. Matt Williams talked about a number of players who said they didn’t want to play another game for us.

I wish Tresor absolutely no luck for the future. In fact, I’d like him to pick up a long-term injury as soon as we get rid of him and for his career to completely nosedive. All the best Mikey.

Re: Pace on Tresor
I suspect this is the wrong approach, but my instinct would be to say "sorry pal, you're under contract and not going anywhere" And hope he gives in and starts to play. Just on principle, it's galling to think someone can just completely ignore their obligations to an employer. An employer paying him sums of money most fans could only dream of, to play football.
Reported ill you say, from where exactly I wonder? Wouldn't suprise me if he's not even in the country.

Re: Pace on Tresor
Even if he's refusing to play ,I'd expect the club are still harbouring hopes of getting him to play so keeping him involved in training , community work ect as the Chairman has allegedly stated he's going nowhere as we want a return on the investment
Makes sense all round if he played , if he performs well then his value goes up , he get a move and we get a decent financial return.

I don't think i'd want him on the pitch now, he isn't fit to wear the shirt.willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 8:01 pmI suspect this is the wrong approach, but my instinct would be to say "sorry pal, you're under contract and not going anywhere" And hope he gives in and starts to play. I don't know why Pace or Parker hasn't said to a senior pro " break his leg with a late tackle" whilst training. That way, we could claim the insurance money and be a year nearer him leaving when he's training again.

Re: Pace on Tresor
Whilst I agree that all the evidence suggests he’s shirking/refusing to play, it still makes no sense to me that he could be openly doing that and a) allowed to train with the first team, b) rolled out for club charitable and commercial activities, c) seemingly quite popular amongst some of his teammates and d) tolerated by our senior pros.
I’ve never heard of a player being on strike and being anything other than persona non grata.

It’s probably not point blank refusing to play, but if he’s ringing in sick then what can the club do, or when he’s training after a session if he’s saying his leg doesn’t feel like and needs treatment. Nothing much the club can doagreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 8:20 pmWhilst I agree that all the evidence suggests he’s shirking/refusing to play, it still makes no sense to me that he could be openly doing that and a) allowed to train with the first team, b) rolled out for club charitable and commercial activities, c) seemingly quite popular amongst some of his teammates and d) tolerated by our senior pros.

Re: Pace on Tresor
I guess it’s difficult for the senior pros to dig him out because he’s not outwardly striking, Van Hooijdonk style. There were some reports that he had a serious illness last year, though I can’t vouch for the validity of those - if true, if he’s saying he’s ill again, the other players don’t really have any proof he’s lying, as such. I don’t know, it’s a really strange one. I think he has had genuine issues but now he’s maybe playing on those past issues to avoid playing. Why, from a personal and professional point of view, he wants to do that, is beyond me.

In most workplaces, a peer refusing to do the job they are paid for and taking their money home (even if it’s not a blatant strike), would be shunned.

Perhaps he thinks he’s too good to feature for the u23s to gain match fitness and it’s Parker who refuses to play him until he falls in to line with the rest of the squad?

For Tresor substitute Winston Bogarde who did the same with Chelsea as far back as 2000
