Micah Richards turned up at the Darren Persson ( The Local Funeral Directors have naming rights ) Stadium, North Shields last Saturday
to watch his mate's team West Didsbury & Chorlton take on the Robins in the F A Vase fourth round.
The link is to a post match discussion with one of the natives. You might need a translator for the interviewer, but you'll get the drift.

Micah didn't realise that there is a North and South Shields and initially went to the wrong ground.

Micah has found his niche as the class clown and is making a serious living from it.Good luck to him and his comments on live game are far more use than many "experts"

I'd still rather listen to Richards over Chris Sutton

Seems like a genuine bloke to me. I would be suprised if what you get off camera isn't pretty much what you get on it. Having worked in TV I can tell you that often is not the case!

Making a great pundit living having been a remarkably average player.

You're not setting a high standard with that though

Yet most of us would give our right leg to have the “average” career he had playing for England, City, Villa, Fiorentina etc
If was an average player what does that make any of the current Burnley team ?

Guess he must have been eh - hard to fathom given he managed to get picked in around 200 premier league games, won the Premier League and FA Cup and played for his country a dozen or so times.

He seems knowledgeable and his comments are better than a lot of 'pundits', but the ridiculously loud laugh does get a bit tedious.

Based on the MotD Top10 podcast, I really don't think he's that knowledgeable at all. Lineker and Shearer have to do quite of bit of basic educating. He openly admits quite regularly about not knowing much about the players / events he's rating. Remember, these are the absolute pinnacles of football, and he is sometimes basing his opinion essentially on what's written on Wikipedia
I like him
He's just got nothing to add as a pundit

He's an entertainer - honest about his career and has played the game at the highest level.
Very likeable character....!

I'm not sure he even particularly cares massively about football. He talks openly about money regularly, I think that's his primary objective

Always comes across as a decent guy to me. A lot of people in the media do, but when people become successful, other people love to try to bring them down.
I’d be more than happy to have a pint and a chat with him. Looks like he’s up for a laugh, and I like that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.

I like Micah, straight forward lad. He admits he likes the money that football brought him and is enjoying life. Cracking player until injury took its toll, but still managed a belting career.
He went up in my estimations when they were doing Derbies and while Lineaker and Shearer were all over the city rivalries Micah piped up “Not really seen it much in the Premier League, but the Burnley/Blackburn Derby is a bit tasty: I covered it and it was insane, a proper Derby!”
