2025 Cricket Season
2025 Cricket Season
Despite the weather being horrible the nights are getting lighter which means the cricket season will soon be upon us
It’s only 12 weeks till the Lancashire League starts and 13 weeks to the North West Cricket League
With indoor nets either started at some clubs or about to start how are preparations going for our local sides
Has there been many transfers between clubs? What pro’s have been signed up. Who are the favourites for each division

TheFamilyCat Junior is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between East Ardsley and Hunslet Nelson in the Heavy Wollen Under 9's League. Could get messy.

Been taking my son to Rawtenstall winter last two weeks nets so the countdown is certainly on! Anuk Fernando pro again down at Bacup Road. Nothing but a title charge will satisfy the Rawtenstall faithful.

Noticed there's plenty of work needed pre season at Rawtenstall to eradicate the bonfire damage! There's less mess in Los Angeles right now!

Re: 2025 Cricket Season
Plenty of transfers in the Northwest league between the Bolton sides.
Farnworth would have to start favourite at the minute as they have gained last year's professional in the amateur ranks, as he now lives over here full time with his Mrs.
My club Padiham have added a top 5 batter but haven't engaged a professional yet, so can't judge.

There are so many clubs in Bolton and every winter there is always a merry go round of players, years ago it was usually case of which club was paying the most.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:14 pmPlenty of transfers in the Northwest league between the Bolton sides.

Back on topic. Greenmount have the same SA pro and have signed 4 players. 2 from Bolton clubs!! One from Earby and another from Droylsden. I’d guess promotion is the ambition.

Re: 2025 Cricket Season
Certainly going to be tough for the clubs that don't pay players, and there's not many of them.
Unfortunately playing by the rules eventually makes it very difficult for you.
cryptic, yes, but I'm sure those that know, know.

When the temperature warms up and the grass starts to grow, that area is the best part of the ground.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:21 pmNoticed there's plenty of work needed pre season at Rawtenstall to eradicate the bonfire damage! There's less mess in Los Angeles right now!

It’s always fine by the start of the season. The guys do a great job with the field at Rawtenstall.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 5:21 pmNoticed there's plenty of work needed pre season at Rawtenstall to eradicate the bonfire damage! There's less mess in Los Angeles right now!

The grass seems to grow better where the bonfire has been than anywhere else at lowerhouse.helmclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 8:42 pmIt’s always fine by the start of the season. The guys do a great job with the field at Rawtenstall.

Be no problem with the ground at Rawtenstall come April. As above lucky to have a groundsman who does a cracking job.

Any truth in the rumour Jonny Whitehead is leaving Lowerhouse and Frankie has retired ?
Re: 2025 Cricket Season
Pretty sure Jonny is still around.
Frankie didn't play a great deal last year

I think Stan alluded to this at the AGM when it was asked. If anything the grass is better once it grows back.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 8:46 pmThe grass seems to grow better where the bonfire has been than anywhere else at lowerhouse.

Re: 2025 Cricket Season
Now it's official that Jack Edgar has signed for Todmorden it probably puts them favourites for the league for me.
They should have won the cup final after a great knock by their pro who is returning and finished 3rd in the league.

Player move.
For what its worth I agree he's a great signing for Todmorden as an amateur and predict he will have a good year.
I agree it currently looks like Todmorden will be one of those that are battling Burnley for the title this year.

I think he will be back pro'ing next year if he can resist the urge to bowl this year and get back to full fitness for next.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 06, 2025 8:26 amPlayer move.

He's very competitive though and could rush back.
He averaged 50 over his 4/5 years at Padiham.
