I've wanted to see this too. But flemming hasn't done anything wrong in the 9 away from home. His recent record is fantastic. I just hope he tries it if this continues as a stalemate

Get both full backs and Sarmiento off at half time
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
If these lot weren't terrible at finishing we could well have found ourselves 2 down.
Strong contender along with Leeds or Milllwall for most turgid performance of the season.

No dressing it up, that was a poor half against a poor team. Still there for the taking but we have to step it up from that performance.
OFF - Sarmiento, Pires and Roberts

We're playing another team near the bottom of the table, we should be almost playing 4-4-2. I just don't understand why we aren't changing things up.willsclarets wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:47 pmI've wanted to see this too. But flemming hasn't done anything wrong in the 9 away from home. I can’t imagine Shelvey and/or Benson before 70th minute.

Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
This has been unusually poor from us today. Pompey are dominating us without having Brownhill as a 3rd midfielder.
Shelvey needs to come on at half time, Pompey are playing like a team who are desperate for points and going forward at every opportunity. If we get it right this second half we will pick them off imo.

Have to sub Roberts 2nd half before he's sent off.

Terrible half. Inability to play simple passes.
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
Pires impressing again.

Awful half
Abysmal on the ball, abysmal decision making.

Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
Defensively he offers great cover but agreed he is technically way off being able to play the pivot role that Cullen does in tight areas. He's much more affective playing higher up the pitch which is why this slow, laborious build up is a proper head scratcher. We looked so much better against Plymouth being more direct.Goliath wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:45 pmAt what point does Parker realise that Laurent is nowhere near technically good enough to be starting in central.midfield for a team wanting to win the league. He constantly hides from the ball and when he does receive the ball under pressure I suddenly realise why he hides in the first place.
I'd genuinely be looking at Bauress for the box to box role if Brownhill goes, he has technical ability along with great energy.

Reminding me of Millwall away which is worrying
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
We looked confused as to what style we are playing today. We seem to be hoofing it quite regularly to nobody but also trying to play out and losing it that way too easily. Partly because Laurent isn't available so it's easy to swarm around Cullen and force the play back.me01jh wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:52 pmDefensively he offers great cover but agreed he is technically way off being able to play the pivot role that Cullen does in tight areas. We also need a left back. Humphrey isn't one and Pires hasn't been great so far. We are taking a risk if we don't sign one.
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
Parker needs to change something in the way he goes about games. These sort of turgid performances are way too frequent.
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
I think Humphries is a much safer pair of hands than Pires, he's a decent player.Goliath wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:55 pmWe looked confused as to what style we are playing today. If we want to persist with playing out from the back with Cullen as the pivot then we need to be braver with pushing our full backs higher up the pitch and splitting our centre backs further. At the moment, Cullen drops in but we still have a 'stay at home' full back which means we rarely 'get out' and end up going sideways and backwards.

Well we have seen brownhill ineffective inWe need to stop putting square pegs the no 10 roll and now we are seeing sarmiento ( who is a very good player) absolutely the same ,so for me it,s not the players it's the system. We need to stop players playing out of position. For me foster in front of flemming and sarmiento on the left

Sarmiento is not a very good player . He's very average and that's being kind .
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
Still messy 2nd half.
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
Egan-Riley good tackle
Re: Portsmouth vs THE SUPER CLARETS - Match Thread
Yep spot on. Parkers clearly having the same conundrum with Humphrey, he's dropped him about 5 times now so he's clearly not too convinced with him as a left back either.me01jh wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2025 4:00 pmI think Humphries is a much safer pair of hands than Pires, he's a decent player.

He needs to make a decision on Pires either way. If he doesn't think he can step up then we need a new left back. Taylor was a no brainer for me, we missed out there.

Why would Edwards sign when he can see how we play?

5 mins in and more of the same. We don't look like we're capable of establishing control. Change it now, not on 80 mins.
