When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

Not often you hear Chekhov quoted on UTC!! Even if it’s only through Bill Murray’s lips . I often feel the forum is bubbling under with classic Russian 19th c literature, just waiting to burst out …

Where did Checkov find the time to write 19th Century literature while navigating the star ship Enterprise?

Trafford has the ball, stands on the ball for 15 seconds, passes to CJ... stands on the ball for ten seconds. Passes sideways to Esteve who looks for an out ball, nothing on so he passes to CJ, who hits a long diag to Portsmouths centre back and we lose possession.

Trafford has the ball, stands on the ball for 15 seconds, passes to CJ... stands on the ball for ten seconds. Passes sideways to Esteve who looks for an out ball, nothing on so he passes to CJ, who passes it out to Roberts who either hoofs it out of play or plays the ball infield for a 50/50 tussle.

Trafford has the ball, stands on the ball for 15 seconds, passes to CJ... stands on the ball for ten seconds. Passes sideways to Esteve who passes it out to Pires who either plays a blind pass into space or plays the ball back to Trafford.

I swear 50% of the match yesterday was me watching this unfold

Well, Phil saw his shadow, so another six weeks of winter.
