Every match is a must win
A few days ago, someone wrote “this match is not a must win”. I didn’t agree with that view. As long as our competitors (Sheffield and Sunderland) keep winning then we need to win. Personally, I think Leeds are on the road to promotion. Really don’t want to see us in the playoffs. UTC!

Agree, doesn't seem to be an wiggle room for a top 2 place. I thought Sheff Utd would have dropped points tonight and they beat a Boro side that gave us a hard game. Need to match Sheff Utd then beat them and keep that goal difference above theirs

The next 2 games for Leeds are against Sunderland and Sheffield Utd, someone's going to drop points. Our win tonight keeps the pressure on Sunderland and the Blades.....Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 12:28 amAgree, doesn't seem to be an wiggle room for a top 2 place. Gonna feel weird wanting Leeds to winClaretnick wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 12:45 amThe next 2 games for Leeds are against Sunderland and Sheffield Utd, someone's going to drop points. Our win tonight keeps the pressure on Sunderland and the Blades.....

Re: Every match is a must win
No chance a draw is the optimal result resulting in 2 points being awarded to our rivals instead of 3.
Leeds are more than catchable especially with 14 games to go. They aren’t going to win them all

Re: Every match is a must win
We have the capability to win them all, but that obviously would be a rarity that we can't expect. I do believe that Parker has had them on a rein of controlled physicality to be able to last 50+ games. He has also built their confidence by insisting on controlling possession by safe passing and now if the Hull game is anything to go off(?) he might have now taken those reins off. The next 3 games might be a measure as to how our season runs from now until the end.

Re: Every match is a must win
We have a great opportunity to put pressure on the other three. PNE, Sheff W, Cardiff, and Luton are our next four. If we play like we did last night there's no reason we can't walk away with 12 points.
Leeds have Sunderland, Sheff U, WBA, and Pompey.
Sheff U have Luton, Leeds, QPR, and PNE.
Sunderland have Leeds, Hull, Sheff W, and Cardiff.
Leeds are sitting pretty at the moment, and their fans aren't shy about it. Let's see where they are after this set of fixtures. Their next three are massive tests.

I do think we'll finish 3rd behind Leeds and Sheffield United.
Could be up against Rovers in the play-offs!

It does feel like that doesn't it.
I have a terrible feeing in the pit of my stomach that we are destined to play Rovers in the play offs, and worst still in the final. Not sure I could take it.

Re: Every match is a must win
I think we are getting momentum at the right time, we have learnt how to beat poorer teams and apart from Sheffield they are all we will face in the run in. Key players back and more attacking options should result in automatic IMHO, not necessarily champions but I'd take it.

Re: Every match is a must win
I suspect someone will drop off. They usually do. Brighton did the year we won the league under Dyche and Boro in the Kompany season. Whether two teams do remains to be seen.
The problem this season is that the top 4 are so much better than the rest.Usually you could rely on a team in the top half giving a promotion rival a run for their money, but it’s not been the case so far. Leeds hammering Watford and Sheffield United having a pretty comfortable game against Boro last night are a case in point.

Re: Every match is a must win
I'm accepting Leeds will win it and we're playing for second place. We absolutely cannot afford any slip ups as we need to keep Sheffield U within touching distance and also not let Sunderland get level. That way we can have Sheffield's visit to the Turf as pretty much a winner takes all match, even though it's a fair way off yet.
Re: Every match is a must win
Hopefully 2 draws between Leeds Sunderland and Sheffield utd and we will be top 2.

Re: Every match is a must win
Leeds are an exceptional side and currently deserve top spot. However there will be numerous twists and turns in the next 14 games, and I can remember 12 months ago that Leeds went on an incredible run, caught up Leicester, then fell off a cliff, even losing in the play-offs. To mention a very famous quote-goals win you matches, defences win you titles
Re: Every match is a must win
There can be some surprises though which we'll need to take advantage of. Hull beating SU 0-3. Sunderland dropping 2 points recently. Then there's the 2 Leeds games vs Sunderland and SU and us still having to play SU. Ultimately, it's in our hands.agreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 9:06 amI suspect someone will drop off.
