Shows the general apathy of our fans. An FA cup fifth round away at our local rivals is a huge game. I'd expect demand to be much higher than the supply in most seasons. Didn't we take 8000 to City one year?AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:42 amI notice loads of tickets still available and I’d say 1 or 2 blocks not open yet . Only got ours this morning , though ticket office ( Anna?) was fantastic sorting out clarets number error .
Though I guess the 12.15 ko( just daft ) , on tv , and the bloody awful crammed in /bar queues, difficulty drinking pre match etc etc really take the shine off what should be a season highlight so far .

We ended up in the bears paw and stayed for about three hours. Great little pub. Yeah the spoons up the road were told to stop Burnley going in from advice of the police.

Fan Apathy? Jog on. More the apathy that the club has shown this competition over the last decade. I stopped doing FA Cup games. Even when we put a good team out you can tell there’s a total different level of intensity than a league game. We barely put a good team out though. The early rounds are like a pre season friendly. I’ll trot down to Wembley if we make the semifinal or buy my seat for any hone ties we might be lucky enough to get.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
The early rounds? It's the fifth round which if we win takes us to a quarter final. Not the first round. I imagine there'll be a hell of a lot of intensity.claret wizard wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:37 amFan Apathy? Jog on. More the apathy that the club has shown this competition over the last decade. I think the apathy around the stands has been pretty clear all seaspn, myself Included. It's hard to be motivated to watch this type of football knowing that the 'reward' for winning is a seaspn of batterings.
The FA cup actually offers a nice escape from that.

They have been on sale for just over 26 hours and for 24 hours of them they were restricted to fans with over 1900 points.
Over half have been sold in that time period
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
Cool. Was just responding to the comment that sales had been quite poor.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 12:24 pmThey have been on sale for just over 26 hours and for 24 hours of them they were restricted to fans with over 1900 points.

Re: General Info - Preston (a)
I’m calling out the club here, not the fans. The club have shown disdain for the FA Cup over the last decade. Be it the three drubbings by Man City, or the Lincoln game, or getting beaten by Huddersfield, or Bournemouth, Norwich and even the 3rd round exit at Spurs last season. One of those City drubbings was a quarter final and Lincoln disgrace was a 5th round tie. You can’t expect the fans to be going crazy for tickets, even at a reduced price. I just take exception to the phrase “fan apathy”.I don’t think calling out slowish ( not that slow) ticket sales, for a competition that the club don’t care about, can be used to label, the usual strong away showing, as fans showing apathy.Goliath wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 11:49 amThe early rounds? Really? I think we've given it a go in the FA cup and been unlucky with draws and had a few bad performances. The Lincoln one we put out a good side, they just showed up our limitations perfectly. They soaked up our long balls all day tland then suckered punched us.
The ones.might have been to do with them being one of the best teams in the world.

People watch the FA Cup for the cup upsets.
Your comments read as anytime a team pulls off an upset lets not enjoy it, just bitch about the better team and their approach to the game.
Do like the notion had the players taken the cup more serious we would possibly have beaten City.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
It's nothing to do with 'fan apathy', or a 'disdain for the cup' as another poster put it.
Today was the first day that anyone with under 2,000 loyalty points could buy a ticket, which means a lot of fans were waiting until today to be able to get one. Obviously there will be more tomorrow when the number lowers again.
I'll hazard a guess that they sell out before the end of the week, which isn't bad for just under 6k and to say they only went on sale on Tuesday.

I used to be a regular in the New Brit back in the 1980s, a long, long time since I was in there.
Re: General Info - Preston (a)
Never been in before. In fact I didn’t even know it was there despite drinking on Friargate on most of the times we have played Preston over the last 20 years or so!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 10:23 pmI used to be a regular in the New Brit back in the 1980s, a long, long time since I was in there.

You might be thinking of the Dog & Partridge round the corner. Definitely a big bikers’ meet up place.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 9:22 amIs it or was it at one time a Biker's pub ?

What was the parking like on the Sainsbury’s car park? Can you pay park there? Or is it 2 hour max stay?

There was free street parking near the The White Hart 'away fans' pub, about a ten minute walk to the Burnley end.

Re: General Info - Preston (a)
it was a nightmare for us getting away last week. We took over 45 minutes just to get to the exit!!
Think we may be getting our driver to park somewhere else next Saturday!!

Id turn the car around to face back towards the motorway direction, right outside the White Hart, seats near the back of the away but think I was probably home within 45mins from leaving the ground!

Yes parked near White Hart very easy to get away. Lots of street parking. We were quite slow off ground as well but dropped son in Leeds at 4pm.

I imagine most won’t open until 5ish so you’ll have a bit of time to kill after the game, but Sai Surbhi in Fulwood is excellent. Conveniently en route back to the motorway too.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 8:09 amNo interest in pubs but where is a good curry house for after match food?

Re: General Info - Preston (a)
The railway, outside the station was very accommodating before and after last away game. Think the licensee used to have a pub in burnley. Just jump in a cab to ground cost about £6.

Parked at St Gregory’s Primary School was £3 and a very short walk to the ground. Only problem was it took ages to get up Blackpool Road past the retail park after the game.

You'd be better going past the barracks to get back to the M6.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:45 pmParked at St Gregory’s Primary School was £3 and a very short walk to the ground. Only problem was it took ages to get up Blackpool Road past the retail park after the game.
