RATE THE REF - Andrew Kitchen v Preston North End

Horrendous ref as was the linesman on dugouts side. There was one in the corner right at the end where their player went down holding his face and somehow he came to the conclusion it was a free kick despite a number of players blocking his view and the linesman not even raising his flag.

He referees on the basis that footballers are entirely honest and no player would ever try and "win" a free kick. Having decided that, when a Preston player holds his face and asks for a free kick, he is certain to give it. Of course, if any player does not fall over then he hasn't been fouled, hence there is no reason do do anything about shirt pulling if the man doesn't fall over.

One of worst decisions I have ever seen, given the timing of it. If he can't see that PNE cheated he's not fit to referee at amy level.

He was a disgrace. Seriously, I'd like an audit of his bank account because he was beyond incompetent he was borderline corrupt IMHO.

I can see most members of this board sneering and laughing at such a suggestion.
I can't understand why people think that refs aren't at the risk of being corrupted.
This is a billion pound business where all kinds of skullduggery will be used to gain an advantage.
Most owners, especially foreign owners including ours don't care about the fanbase or history of the clubs they own. They only care about making money.
The Premier League is the promised land and owners will do whatever is needed to get there..
In the Kevin Lynch podcast on Under The Cosh he jokes about receiving expensive gifts from owners of foreign clubs he reffed in European games.
This was about 20 years ago and we all know there is fmuch more money involved today.
This ref was absolutely useless against Bastards also and on both occasions he failed to give highly debatable penalties for us. He also constantly failed to penalise Bastards and PNE for their persitant shirt pulling.
The likelihood is that it is down to incompetence and he is a terrible referee who should be nowhere any football match of such a high standard, especially intense derbies. However people should not rule out the possibility that he is at risk of being bribed or blackmailed

Here's another wild theory. Jurgen Klopp couldn't stand David Coote and felt he was biased against Liverpool.
This was at a time when Liverpool were regularly challenging Man City for the title.
Hypothetically speaking what if Man City's owners found out about Coote's drug use and sexuality.
Could he have been blackmailed to make decisions that favoured Man City?

Looking at that table he hasn't reffed any Sunderland games.

As he is from Durham I wonder if he is either a Sunderland fan or whether he has close friends and family members who are fans?

The last 2 performances against Bastards and PNE have been unbelievably shocking.

It was a weird performance. Seemed like he wasn't giving yellow cards to "manage the occasion" but he gave free kicks for the slightest (or non-existent) contact and completely destroyed the flow of the game.

Very very poor, whether a penalty or not, his handling of the game was laughable.

Constant shirt pulling went unpunished. And how he got only 6 mins of additional time is beyond me The Hannibal incident must have taken 6 minutes alone.

The lack of action on shirt pulling was a feature of his performance at Ewood. It was every bit as bad yesterday.

The Hannibal incident was just under four and a half minutes.

When I watched the Rovers game back I counted five occasions when a Burnley player had his shirt pulled , not once did he give us a free kick.

Such incompetence encourages players to continue to cheat and the reason why Preston did it yesterday obviously.

Somehow he has another derby with the Watford Luton game this weekend. The powers that be must see something we’re missing because he looks like he wants to be calm and in control but gets nearly nothing right and then loses control. Will no doubt see him in the premier league in a year or two

Just watched first half highlights of Watford Luton and this clown has made at least 2 horrendous decisions
