Up the Clarets - ten years event
Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
You can count me in, a dinner event would be good I think. If not at the club then as suggested maybe host it at the cricket club. Will have to work out if it can be done following a home game though?

Also makes it difficult with the late notice moving of matches…

Then we owe you a gold watch!ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:41 pmJoined CM in last week of March 2000 so it is 25 years next week. I'd previously run the CISA website.
This is tremendous service to the club and us fans.
Your contribution via this site is a phenomenal history of everything Burnley.
A huge thank you from me.
This is community service, of the highest order. If anyone knows the process for gongs, then this is an example of a person who deserves one.
Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
I joined CM in October 2022. I'd started university a month earlier and was feeling quite homesick, so it was a great source of comfort.
CM and UTC were/are wonderful resources, thanks to CT and all the mods for keeping it going.

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
Sounds a good idea wherever it is and whatever it is. I suppose the more informal it is enables people to move around a room with a drink in hand to meet people many of whom we only know through intriguing user names. That's my input, not much use, a bit like my posts. I'd be up for it anyway.

Re: Up the Clarets - ten years event
I doubt that would happen but it'd be hilarious if it did. Meeting people in the flesh face to face away from the keyboard I think a lot of shrinking violets would be at play & less of the macho attitude. You get away with alsorts on here but meeting the wrong person if there was that way inclined you'd get knocked into the middle of next week no questions.Stonehouse wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 4:06 pmWould everyone wear names badges with their names on or their forum name ? could make an interesting event .

The old CM were thoroughly enjoyable. We did wear badges (I think).
All the wums and gobshites never actually attended.

Wow - that's staggering. Amazed it's so long ago.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 11:44 amI wish it was 3 luppy, I'd be a lot younger than I am.
First match report on here was the 4-1 home win against Derby which I entitled Ram-Shackelled.
The commentary from Juke and Barnes on clarets player was something to behold that night
