Best Performance of the Season

Post by TheFamilyCat » Sun Mar 30, 2025 10:29 am

It may not have been reflected in the scoreline but I would put that down as our best performance off the season.

The attacking intent throughout was evident, played at a good tempo. We were dominant from start to finish, Bristol City are in decent form but they were never in the game.

As the clock ticked over 80 minutes I was worried we would come under pressure with just the one goal lead but bar the last kick, they never got near us.

It was. Just missing the goals we deserved but that’s how the togger goes sometimes.

Best I've seen.

We saw the result of all those hours put in on the training ground. I know full well most of the home games have been dull (euphemism for many of them) but we've been getting there in recent months.

Edwards gives us so much more but yesterday was a first-class team performance with everybody working there socks off. Joy to watch.

Best home performance, and at the right time. Parker's got this.

My mind harps back to the Watford game, but yesterday was good.

Peaking at the right time!

I was concerned that we would see the usual 15 minute flurry after half time and then settle with what we’ve got. But we kept going and were a goal threat right to the death. Our recovery without the ball is so good that I think attack is our best form of defence and sitting back inviting pressure leaves us vulnerable to a freak strike or set piece goal.

We were very good yesterday and are on a very good run of performances and results. Oddly I think we’re probably the most consistent and predictable of the top 3, which at this stage of the season is a good thing.

We have some really good players and it showed yesterday, despite the best efforts of another poor referee. A good striker and we would be points ahead at the top of this division.

If he played like this from the beginning, he would have taken the fans with him like Mullen and Coyle did.

Keep it going.

Yes but a new team - as we seem to experience most seasons now - takes time to learn about each other. And that's why, in the event that we do get promoted we need to keep hold if our star players abd in fact bring in a couple of new better players.

Played really well and dominated the game . I just wish we'd pull the trigger when we get chance . There was at least 5 occasions where players were in space and could of had a shot , but instead they tried to lay the ball off .

We've been missing the goals for most of the season hence 15 draws, otherwise we would be walking this league

In the 15 draws so far this season we have scored just 4 goals and one goal in each of those

Even yesterday, apart from the great set piece, did their GK have to make any good saves

Our build up play is measured and good but we still don't have a natural, proven striker, or any others apart from Brownhill

We may get away with that this season but not next year

Maybe he didn't have to make great saves to keep them in it, but that Flemming header should have made him make one as should the chances for Anthony, particularly the free header from Flemming's cross but he should have done so much better with that through ball from Edwards too which ended up being more of a pass than a shot.

Well, we’re still in this year so next year is irrelevant.
