Lancashire League Cricket!

Post by Hopey » Wed Apr 16, 2025 1:55 pm

It's back this weekend!

Charity game at the House on Good Friday, we've got 2 bands on and the footy for anyone interested. (more info here).
Burnley vs Lowerhouse on Saturday in the Ron Singleton Trophy (our version of the Charity Shield)
Lowerhouse vs Darwen and Burnley vs Ramsbottom in the league Sunday.

Unchanged team for Lowerhouse in the Cup and League game.

For me, its likely Burnley again who are strong right across the board, followed by Darwen.

Todmorden/Lowerhouse will be up there and should challenge if they keep their best players fit.

As for the Cup there's a good 6-8 teams that could put a good cup run together

T20 - I've no idea tbh

Saw earlier that Jack Edgar has signed for Tod from Padiham. Could be dark horses this time.

Does anyone know if dogs are allowed up at Lowerhouse CC? Hoping to attend the charity match on Friday.

Yes absolutely, just clean up after it. And if taking it inside make sure it's well behaved

No dogs on the pitch

Dogs are welcome at all cricket clubs. Always a few walking around the boundaries.

I can't see Lowerhouse being any different.

Tom Walker having a fantastic start to the season. 109no in the House innings and he's had both Burnley openers caught behind already in the Burnley reply

Is it taken seriously? Is there a few watching?

I thought about going down to watch but didn't want to risk watching an half arsed game.

Trying to watch it on a stream where I think they are using dialup it's that bad.
At the very least it should be used to get your eye in. Only one team has managed that by the looks of it.

Padiham entered the National K.O comp to use as a decent friendly last week.

The batsman got their eye in but not quite as much as the opposition sadly.

5 victims for Joe Martin.
100 for Tom Walker, 50s for Jonny Whitehead and Pro.

9 down currently.

Their stream is awful.

Up The House.

Doubt House would ever entertain doing that. There are plenty that see the Lancs KO as an extra pain nevermind the national.

All the games are played on Sunday like the Lancs ko so it would be hard.

Always good to play against new clubs though.

Lowerhouse win the Ron Singleton Trophy!

After posting 300/4, the lads bowled local rivals Burnley out for 132!
Tom Walker smashed 109, Pro Dan 84 & Jonny 57.
Joe Martin took 5 victims with the gloves, while Tom & Paddy Martin grabbed 3 wickets each.

Top effort, lads! #UTH 💛💙

All lowerhouse fans.

It's sad that more don't show an interest at Burnley CC

I'm thrown completely. Because yesterday felt like a Saturday, I'd assumed the Trophy game was yesterday and that today was Sunday so I've been looking for score updates for the first league games.

Congratulations to Lowerhouse on their trophy win today in a match they dominated after a couple of early losses.
However, they were helped considerably by an abject bowling performance from a wayward Burnley attack conceding 300 runs, something that doesn't happen very often, particularly at home.

That was my biggest take from the game too. Very surprised we got on top of the Burnley attack like that. The best bowling attack by far in the league last season in its ability to limit teams and dig the team out of holes on occasions. House are capable of posting scores like that but even so to do it at Burnley was a surprise. I'm sure they will settle down into a groove though. Taking nothing for granted.

Just looking at the scores and this one stood out.

Colne v Greenmount

Greenmount 206/1 from 24 overs. Snyman is 131* from 38 balls.

Burnley are 81/2 from 28 overs at Ramsbottom.

No reports yet from House although I’m hearing that Walker went for 1 but that’s probably just fake news

House have chucked their wickets away today. Excellent catch at slip to dismiss Whitehead to be fair. Pro missed a slog straight in the air. Ben charged down the wicket and wafted at bouncing ball. Henri Cottam went for a silly run and was run out. Early season errors.
