My eighth..the first one being at York in 92. Old enough to remember the 3rd division win in 1982 but I was only ever taken on the odd game then being young.

First game in August 1952 and seen 9 promotions and 9 relegations ---I would like to think that I have reached my limit, however, who knows what is round the corner in football and in life.

Re: So, how many times have you seen us get promoted ?
I was an eager 10yr old 1972/73 season when we took over Deepdale, we needed 1 point for the title,( they needed a point for survival). Thought on the way home what a rubbish tip Preston was. 6 months later my dad got a promotion and we moved there! Broke my heart!!!
First relegation was 2 years prior, cried for 2 weeks solid!

Re: So, how many times have you seen us get promoted ?
Exactly the same for me. Far too young for '47, but ever present since '72. Not sure which was best as they're all brilliant at the time. That night in York was amazing, but I actually think Dyche's first might just edge it because it really was a miracle considering the way we'd been the previous season and the woeful (it seemed at the time!) summer recruitment.
Re: So, how many times have you seen us get promoted ?
i was 3year and 6 months when promoted in 1947 but dont remember it so I suppose 11 would be a lie but all the other 10 as well as winning the league in 1960. Yes been around for most ups and downs since my first game on August 19th 1950 Burnley 0 Arseholes 1.
Re: So, how many times have you seen us get promoted ?
10. And 10 relegations obviously.

I can certainly remember the 1947 Cup.Final more than the promotion.

Coming up to the 50th anniversary of my first game in August. So far very seem 9 promotions and 9 relegations (although to be honest I don’t really remember the relegation of 75/76).

I can’t count 91/92 or 93/94 as I was too young to understand it so
99/00
08/09
13/14
15/16
22/23
24/25
A very enjoyable last 15 years as a Burnley fan on the whole.

2016 - Was at QPR game and Charlton
2023 - Missed Boro but went to Ewood
2025 Was at Sheff Utd game and will be at the next 2 hoefully to see another title win.

Just for the recordQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 8:25 pmWas York 92 the only time we won promotion and the League title in the same game?
73 - promotion Sunderland (h), title Preston (a)
82 - promotion Southend (a), title not playing
92 - promotion & title York (a)
94 - playoffs
00 - promotion Scunthorpe (a)
09 - playoffs
14 - promotion Wigan (h)
16 - promotion QPR (h), title Charlton (a)
23 - promotion Middlesbrough (a), title Blackburn (a)
25 - promotion Sheffield United (h)
I was at all of those games apart from the title win in 2023.

10 for me. First one 1973 then 82, 92, 94, 2000, 2009, 2014, 2016, 2023, 2025.
Also I've seen some brilliant victories throughout many years around this time of the year. My birthday yesterday and games around and on that date have invariably been good results. My favourite was April 23rd 1966 and a 2-0 home win v Liverpool.

Re: So, how many times have you seen us get promoted ?
im a 1972 boy but was 7, first years season ticket!!
81/82 special as its a long gap between 72 and this and we were had a terrible start.
Little did we know that it would be another 10 years to what i think is everyones favourite promotion, the atmosphere at home games was unbelievable that season.
1994, wow got in the car and said it was the best day of my life (wife wasn't happy!!), a win at Wembley, boyhood dream
1999/2000 is when it felt to me we got serious as a football club, there is a special place in the history of the club for Barry Kilby
2009 we had maintained second division football, it was not pretty at times during those years but i thought it was a good level for us, 3rd of fa cup every year etc. Then Coyle turned up, my daughter's first year. Ive a lot to grateful for as we still go on together, but 6 months later i hated him and still do. I remember getting a drink at half time at Wembley and my hand was shaking, so pleased my dad saw us back in the big time before he passed.
2013/14 It felt like we were slowly drifting back to mid table championship obscurity, but we are in a golden age of watching the clarets. It felt like we all fell in love again with the clarets and out of nowhere we were back. We played some great football, and Sean is legend, worthy of some form recognition around the stadium.
2015/16 These were now fever pitch years, don't think I've ever celebrated goals like the equalisers at Brighton and wow the one at home to Boro, daughter thought i was having a heart attack!!!
2022/23 Never known a season like it, how many last minute winners did we get, i remember laughing when we brought on Ekdal at Norwich and his first touch was a goal. Nothing could go wrong that season, it's the closet we ever came to Brazil!!!
This year is probably the most important on reflection (i know they are all important) but i and i think many others had begun to fall out with football and the season before we had in my opinion the most dislikable Burnley team I've ever seen. I feel this season has been tough a times, we haven't had the fantastic football where we crushed teams and blew people away before halftime, but what we got was a team that we cared about again, who represented the values of our club, as Stan always said its not size of the dog but the fight in it.
Ive always thought we were a special club who has in my opinion out performed our size, I'm not sure how many other clubs have enjoyed our ups and downs since 1972 but there haven't been many dull moments.

10 for me.
‘72 the best team, playing beautiful football but ‘13-‘14 was amazing. Selling Charlie Austin and favourites for relegation but some wonderful battlers and Vings up front were amazing.

Re: So, how many times have you seen us get promoted ?
8, the first was 92.
It’s a different thread really but I was asked which was my favourite PL promotion season and I was thinking one of the best things about them (and indeed all the promotions I’ve seen) is that they’re all different. They’re all great for different reasons.
Some unexpected, some where we dominated, some that were rollercoasters, two won at Wembley. This latest one and it’s ridiculous unbeaten run. Mad isn’t it, I’ve seen us not win for 19 but I’ve also seen us go 23 and 31* unbeaten.
And that’s another aspect, I’ve also seen 7 relegations but I enjoy the promotions more because of them.
7 promotions, from the basement to Europe and all self-funded through our success, no sugar daddies, something to be really proud of as it’s a real rarity in modern football. I wouldn’t swap the last 30 odd years supporting this club for anything.
