I’d love to watch rovers blow up in the playoffs…

Not heard much about their demonstrations recently

What dilemma? I want us to win the title, though it is out of our hands at the moment.

I don’t give a crap what Blackburn do, as the other sides in the play offs are better than them so I highly doubt they’ll go up anyway. I can’t see them beating Sheffield United either to be honest, unless the United rest half their team.

Im not arsed who wins the title between Burnley and Leeds but I would like to see Blackburn get promoted. I think having the East Lancs derby in the top division would be something for both towns to be proud about
I agree with you (not always do lol) but now live in Rishton (was from Burnley went to school there and worked there for some until I was in my 30s) but now living in Rishton were as a lot of people who live here have family supporting both teams . To play them in the Prem and win both games each season would be marvellous, and good for our towns with the additional money it brings.
oh Id like Burnley to win the title this year and perhaps the prem in 2 yrs

While I’ve no idea what your acronym stands for , do you really think anyone would be remotely bothered if we don’t win the title ? Of course it would be a bit of icing on the cake , but it has zero bearing on anything as the promotion is all . Nobody ever boasted about winning a 2nd tier /championship . But been a great season alround and for me the war is over …

I can absolutely guarantee you that today Board, manager, players and all the supporters - apart from you - want to win the league. It's strange to think otherwise.

There is no dilemma. Let's have Blackburn back in the Premier League alongside the Clarets. Imagine, Burnley v Blackburn as a Premier League fixture. That would bring plenty of spice for the neutrals. Just think how much happiness there would be around East Lancashire if both made it up. I'm all for that.
So how's the mood in Blackburn? Are the protests still on or has a sniff of the play offs suddenly seen you sell out your allocation next week? And what if you somehow get to Wembley? Would be weird seeing one half of the ground empty while a couple of dozen simpletons stand outside Ewood with poorly spelt banners.

It must be so hard to keep up.

It stands for What the actual f*ck

Don't know about you, but I follow my team to one day watch us lift trophies. We have almost zero chance of winning the major competitions anymore due to the money now in football, so the championship trophy is pretty much the pinnacle we can achieve (unless we get a miracle takeover). We will look back on these days in years to come as a glory period in our history, so we need to maximise it as much as possible.

Not being bothered about this is just plain weird and screams of a loser mentality tbh, but each to their own.

You asked: who cares? I would say the vast majority of people do, including those from your big match day group. If they don't, tell them they'll look forward to the open top bus more.

It's not meaningless.

Let's win the league.
Let's see Blackburn make the playoffs.
Let's see the confused looks on their teary faces when Brereton Diaz scores the winner to dump them out.
Eternal mediocre obscurity.

Living in Yorkshire it’s more important to me to prevent the local news circle jerk and local knuckle-draggers slurring ‘Leeds Leeds Leeds’ ****** up in the street from next Saturday ad infinitum.

Rovers aren’t going to do naff all in the playoffs anyway and will be amusing to see their principals fly out of the window as usual when they sniff a bit of glory when for once they’d have a platform to mount a protest that would actually be noticed against their nasty owners that pour money in every season.

I wouldn't know. But I'm hearing this run changes nothing. It's still Pasha, Waggott, Gestede and Venky's out, even if they make the play offs and get to Wembley. Gestede has done a couple of interviews over the last week where he has openly said that the club had no plan to spend for promotion in the January just gone. Despite them being 5th. They want to build things slowly, step by step, with the primary aim being to develop and sell on players. Promotion is a secondary goal. It's only been the 12 years of them building slowly, to date. Not good enough, not acceptable. They are talking ****, so they all have to go, is the word going round.

I like it, but there's always another way of looking at things, Bosscat.

Imagine if:

Burnley beat Millwall
PNE draw against or beat Bristol City
Blackburn beat Sheffield United.

It would be clear as day and never to be lived down by either set of supporters. The Clarets and PNE together, would have helped Blackburn Rovers back into the Premier League after a 12 year wait. The stuff of nightmares. The irony after all these years of laughing at Blackburn. Oh my. Let's hope it doesn't play out as I have suggested.

Has anyone the heart to tell Hutchy that even if it did play out that way, that they’d still have three more games to play, which they’d inevitably lose?

True that they would still have three to play. However them getting into the play offs in that manner, despite all the upheaval there, the points dropped, losses of form during the season etc would point to it being their year.

Much like how people felt it was Newcastle's cup this time in the League Cup final.

If Blackburn get that play off spot, the momentum would be all theirs. The team to fear. They would have just beaten Sheff Utd, who are already on a downer having missed out on the top two. Sunderland have been a state recently. Not exactly going into the play offs with confidence. Coventry are bricking it. Millwall rarely get the better of Blackburn. Rovers would be the favourites if they could nab one of those spots.

I also happen to think that if the Venky’s got a whiff that the ‘stards were in danger of entering the play off places, that they’d be straight on the phone to agent Ismell and that would be end of that.

The Venky’s are propping the club up just enough that the ‘stards can’t get rid, but they won’t ever let them taste success again.

I’m thinking solely about Burnley. Hopefully beat MiwwWaww and Leeds drop points at Plymouth.

For me, the weakest, least financially clouted team needs to win the play offs, which would automatically fill one relegation place, leaving only two left to keep out of.

So that would be Rovers, Millwall, Bristol City, Coventry.
Sunderland would throw money at it, Sheff U and Boro maybe to a lesser extent.

If Leeds are winning 4-0 with 10 mins to go, and we are drawing 0-0 with Millwall, we should let them score.

Either way really, it is a WinWin for us. We win if we win and we win if we lose.

Sheffield United are miles better than Bastards.

I’d expect them to win fairly comfortably to try to take some good form into the play offs. And if they do win to deny Bastards a play off spot, they’ll have my support to win them.

PNE could be a massive story, their GD is one worse than Hull so if they lost then Luton and Hull only need a draw each to relegate them. Some slide down the table that! :o

Pasha is Rovers' COO - basically Venky’s stooge.

So if the calls for him to go were somehow successful, he'd be replaced by another Venky’s stooge.

Imagine wasting your giro on a banner for that.

Weren’t they on 47pts after 38 games? That, and their win in the cup against us meant they got the deckchairs out a wee bit prematurely. Now they’re in the brown stuff they can’t get going again.

I just hope we can reverse the results of 2022 when Leeds winning at Brentford against a final 9 men and us losing here to Newcastle meant we ended up 18th and Leeds 17th 3 points better off but an inferior goal difference.Lets have us 1 or 3pts better off with an inferior goal difference.

There will be a lot of u-turning amongst the Rovers fanbase should that happen. To think their fans were demanding Ismael's head a few weeks ago- another excellent appointment by the owners. They are very lucky to have them.

Exeter would fancy their chances against you over 2 legs.

Interesting to see the boycott has been suspended for a few days by the most fickle fans in football. You won't make the play offs and it is probably for the best imagine the position it would put you in of having to give the Venkys more of your giro just days after turning into Blackpool and oing on about NAPM. You were all dancing to dopey Glen and his lies tune while he told you what to do then a sniff of a 6th place finish and back you lot come.

Your fans are turds you can't flush

Sheffield United are miles better than Bastards.

I’d expect them to win fairly comfortably to try to take some good form into the play offs. And if they do win to deny Bastards a play off spot, they’ll have my support to win them.
We had a winnable Cup Game at PNE, but Parker saw a bigger picture. Controversially , (at the time), he rested most of the team, but went on to win the main prize.
The game on Saturday is completely meaningless to the Blades. Wilder won't be fussed about the integrity of the league and playing a strong competitive team
IMO, he'll do what Scott Parker did at Deepdale, and will already be planning for the play-offs. Furthermore, he probably wouldn't mind at all playing Rovers in the play-offs.

It’s not really in his hands though. He could field a weaker team, lose to B’burn, and face Middlesbrough in the semi finals. Sunderland would get B’burn (if Bristol drop points at Deepdale). Surely you’d want to go into the playoffs (like we did in 2009 beating Sheffield Utd in our last season game) winning. It doesn’t matter if they lose, but they can’t control the other games; so not being ethical, you’d keep aside players on the cusp of yellow card bans, and people you don’t want to be injured, but he’d want to win. That has to be a manager mentality. If you want to consider the really dark arts then Coventry are losing, Burnley and Bristol are winning; and he instructs his second team players to injure the key B’burn players. Get sent off - it’s all for the greater good.

I just sensed the doors of hell opening below me as I thumbed this. I think Sheffield will win.

My point is though that irrespective of their result, - win, lose or draw - they'll play the 6th placed team.
I was disappointed by our line-up at Deepdale, but if I were a Sheff U fan I wouldn't blame Wilder at all if he left out Hamer. Without him they've nothing special so they won't want to risk him.
But there may be other players carrying knocks who he might not risk.

I'd hate Rovers to get promoted. They might struggle in the premier league, but it would catapult their finances and set them up to get much closer to us over the medium term. Stay down, then go down for me. I would never wish a football club out of existence, but there isn't a division low enough I wouldn't be happy to see them in.

I want to win to Nil. I want to get 100 points. Be unbeated at home, hold the record for clean sheets in a season, be undefeated for 33. The rest we dont control anyway.

Szmodics and Wharton money gone, lost their two biggest gates against us and Leeds. Venkys going need to double down on the subsidies over the summer!
