FA cup final

Post by jrgbfc » Thu May 01, 2025 5:12 pm

So only two weeks until the final and the FA/TV companies still haven't decided on a kickoff time. Its not like the City fans have trains to book or anything. Absolute joke the way football fans get treated in this country.

It’s unbelievable isn’t it. Could have been fixed months ago, why do they need to wait until after the semi finals?
As you say, fans are at the bottom of the pile in the FAs view.

Apparently the BBC want a traditional 3pm kickoff to avoid a possible clash with Eurovision that night

What's odd is that they know what other major events are taking place that weekend, and all the engineering works that are being done, so you have to wonder why they haven't decided on a start time.

Perhaps they’re waiting to hear from Gary Lineker as to which time suits him best? :(

and on top of that:

A category 1 ticket will be £175, an increase of £30 (20 percent) on the 2024 final, while category 2 tickets will be £125, which represents a rise of £10 (8.7 percent) on the same tickets last year. Elsewhere, category 3 prices are £75 (a seven percent increase) and category 4 tickets are £50, meaning an increase of £5 (11 percent).

The ticket prices have also increased by more between the semi-final and the final this year than they did in 2024. The difference between the two rounds is almost 95 percent (£85) for Category 1 tickets, 78.5 percent (£55) for Category 2, and 66.6 percent (£30 and £20) for Category 3 and Category 4 tickets.

Yet fans will still pay it. Unless there is some solidarity and people say enough is enough, then this greed will continue.

Imagine the embarrassment for the FA if Wembley is half empty for a major domestic Cup final.

Problem is, the genuine fans will boycott. But then along will come a “tourist” who’ll pay. Wembley still full. The FA won’t care where their money comes from.

Agreed.

Sadly, that’s exactly what it WON’T get.

I noticed there were a lot of empty seats in the City end for the Semi Final.
I’m not sure how allocations work nowadays for the final but it would hopefully send a message if it happened again.

It could happen if Rovers were to somehow get there.

Don't want it to clash with Eurovision song contest :)

Thing is the game and Eurovision will have been scheduled on that day for months. Tbh i wouldn`t blame any City fans for not bothering. How many times will they have been to Wembley this last 10 years or so?

Since 2011 Man City have played at Wembley THIRTY times

Given the expense, no wonder they pick and choose

Obviously for City supporters it would make sense to book and pay for rail tickets well in advance. The savings made would far outweigh the odd occasion when they didn’t make the semis or final.
