I have it on good authority that Alan Pace has never heard of Steve Slawson. Shame on him.

Who cares? There’s far more important things they should be doing with their time…

If you're going to reference Maguire's comments you should probably acknowledge that he wasn't that positive about the £20m of interest due to the leveraged buyout.Row x wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 6:15 amThe Maquire chap, who is normally very negative about Burnley, is actually positive about the latest accounts, so must be looking ok
You're obviously a clever chap, so simple question.
At the time the present owners acquired the club.....what was the alternative?....sensible answers only please.
Re: Would our owners know past players?
So you pick the one slightly negative comment
Even that had some positive points, which he hasn't been in the past
I don't think anyone has ever said everything's perfect
I'll ask you the same question fidal was asked
When the club was sold to Pace and Co.....what was the alternative?

Re: Would our owners know past players?
Those portraits that you say looked shite were voted on by the supporters and funded by supporters clubs & some fans. We all put £1,000s forward for that project for it to happen. The club should have at least consulted with us before pulling them down and dumping them.

That question isn't really the gimme you think it is. We (or at least I) weren't privvy to the takeover discussions. We don't know whether there was other interest put off by the price (Garlick obviously wanted to maximise his return so the takeover method could be viewed as a function of that, a lower price may have engendered more interest and less/no debt for the club), don't know whether there were other interested parties but an exclusivity period, etc
Re: Would our owners know past players?
The idea and sentiment was laudable, and well done to those behind it. However they didn't look the best, and the ground looks far better nowclarets1978 wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 10:57 amThose portraits that you say looked shite were voted on by the supporters and funded by supporters clubs & some fans. Those that were responsible for them should have been consulted before the removal as to where they would like them moving to.
Re: Would our owners know past players?
I think we would have known, certainly by now, had there been any serious alternatives. After all, Garlicks shinny brochure offering the sale of the club had been in circulation for some timeaggi wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 11:04 amI was just fully representing his comments.

To be honest most of my memory of past players has been impacted by PTSD......

Re: Would our owners know past players?
Just on a separate note but linked to the outside look of the ground, I haven't been to a game this season but there was a lot of talk of improvements to the approach from the culvert to the Turf. I've looked on Google maps but that was last updated in Oct 24. Are there any more recent photos of what the finished article looks like or was that it finished by last October?
