And without King Solomon of Spurs you would have been mid table at best

Re: Congratulations Leeds
Well done Leeds, table never lies, they've scored aot of very late goals this season. If we'd have done that in a couple of our 0-0s then who knows, but who cares, a magnificent achievement by our boys and I still think we'll finish above Leeds next season..

Re: Congratulations Leeds
Fair play to Burnley. It may not have been pretty at times but I’ve actually been really impressed with Parker and the way you’ve finished the season. With 100 points and that defensive record you would have deserved the title in any other season and even if you’d done it today I’d have no complaints. Good luck in the transfer window and hopefully we can consign a few of those PL regulars down to the Champo!
Re: Congratulations Leeds
I think we should reflect on the fact that the Clarets did well to hang on in there and finish second on the same points as the world's biggest and most successful club.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 5:31 pmAs much as it pains some of you, I think we all have to congratulate Leeds and say well done for winning the league. You have to go back 5 years for the last time the Championship was won by a team who wasnt relegated from the Premier League the previous season which shows what an achievement it is for them to out perform all three relegated teams.
It has been a fantastic season for Burnley and to get 100 pts and finish second is hard to take but Leeds have undoubtedly been the best team this season and despite how close Burnley ran them the table doesn't lie
So well done Leeds and the battle with them will continue next season but this time it will be for 17th and not 1st

More than happy with the way the season has ended up as we played a couple of games after Sunderland with the players not knowing each others names. Took a while to get going but when we did we certainly showed up for games.

More than happy to finish 2nd after the exodus of players and rebuilding a new team, so congratulations to Leeds but happy to be promoted...

We took 4 points off Dirty Leeds and 6 off the Blunt Blades. That works for me.

Leeds champions and Bfd Sh1tty up in injury time. Drat! Right at the beginning of the season, I predicted that we'd go up automatically with Leeds but said that we'd be champions. Didn't get it too wrong. Here's another prediction: Burnley and Leeds will stay up.

Re: Congratulations Leeds
We only lost the title by one goal scored in the 91st minute. Unbelievable considering where we were at the end of August, and the job SP had to do to mould a team.
Wilson Oderbert left having started the season and so did Dara O'Shea & Vitinio all of these scored at Luton. Add to that the 4 subs brought on that evening all left ie Wout Weghorst, McNally, Zaroury and Massengo (who went out on loan in January). Also in the squad that night...Hountondji, Rodriguez, Twine.
I could add others that exited during the summer ...Berge being the highest quality player to replace and of course Amdouni.
Lets be honest some of Kompany's signings were pants, though fortunately a couple of key players are gems.
Well done to Scott Parker, his back room team, the owners, players and the supporters, without which there wouldn't be a club. Team Burnley.
Congratulations to Leeds United. At least my brother's grandkids and their mother will be happy.

Weird isn't it how we're supposed to be the boring team?Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:58 pmBit of a myth about who played well and when. Here’s the halfway table and we were 1 point behind them. And they’d played a home game more with an excellent home record.
IMG_4860.jpeg
We struggled to break down teams at home in the first half of the season but that's because we are apparently the team that 'parks' the bus.
Dirty Leeds didn't win as many as us on the road and only scored as many as us, so they must have been equally boring.
Re: Congratulations Leeds
and they couldn't even beat us or even score against us!Spijed wrote: ↑Sat May 03, 2025 6:54 pmIndeed. Yes, they were the best team in the Championship because they finished top, but this idea that they were far better than anyone else is simply untrue.
You don't finish above another team on GD if you have a much better team, manager or players.
It shows they were just marginally better than us in ability over the 46 matches.

Leeds is England’s fifth biggest city behind London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, so yes, they are the biggest city without a PL team.

Re: Congratulations Leeds
Never been to bothered about Leeds and all the hatred.
After the game yesterday I went for a couple of pints at my small local country pub quite close to Barrowford.
Surprised to see a few Leeds fans in there in colours. Unfortunately one decided to talk to me and tell me how great Leeds had been this season, how awful Burnley had been. How he expected to win in the last few minutes of the game and how well deserved it was.
I was completely stunned and unprepared for such nonsense. I don’t think I did myself any justice, my only come back was to ask the barman to make sure there wasn’t any dillusion in my pint. I missed many chances to pull this guy up- it’s ruined my Sunday.

Re: Congratulations Leeds
No. Leeds was the biggest.
Sort of related to this question: New owners (and we’ve had a lot of them in the past 20 years, heaven help us) usually go on about Leeds being the largest city with only one club. (Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, London all have multiple clubs). And it’s helped us not in the slightest. Maybe because we have rugby teams with massive followings, so don’t get the crowds you might expect.
Re: Congratulations Leeds
Such a shame that they did away with Goal Average and moved to Goal Difference - we’d have walked it!

Re: Congratulations Leeds
It's not just Leeds city, the whole of North Yorkshire Skipton, Keighley, Harrogate, Ripon, York, Wetherby have Leeds as their nearest 'big' club. Their attendances are relatively pathetic.2020visionofleeds wrote: ↑Sun May 04, 2025 9:45 pmNo. Leeds was the biggest.

You keep hearing the media going on about this big club being missed by the Premier League. My memory isn't the greatest so I may be wrong, but the only 2 successful Leeds teams I remember are Don Revies Leeds, which without doubt the dirtiest team in the history of English football, or the Ridsdale team which spent £100 million it didn't have, then paid back 10p in the pound to it's many creditors.
So which team do they miss. The dirtiest team in history, or the one that bankrupt loads of local businesses. I just don't understand.

Why are Leeds fans trying to do it on a Burnley FC board?

Re: Congratulations Leeds
When I was a lad in the early to mid seventies you either supported DL or you hated them. I don’t think any club has been so widely despised since.
The Revie team under achieved really as they were expected to win the league every season, but teams raised their game against them and more often than not they ended up being the bridesmaids. Our 4-1 win at Elland Rd in 73/74, just after their long unbeaten run had come to an end remains one of my greatest Burnley moments

Leeds fans were replying to tweets from the official Burnley X account on Saturday. Leeds fans took a detour to Bramall Lane on way back from Plymouth. On Leeds parade tweet today some replied with a photo of Burnley Town centre with tumbleweed and no people .agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 6:18 pmThe internet and social media is saturated with places to discuss Leeds United.

Winning the league doesn't appear to be enough for them without gloating about.

To be honest I think that is an outrageous statement. Their stadium is not over run with them. In fact, there is one seat per bell-end. Please get your facts right.Claretitus wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 9:50 pmThey don’t call in Bell End Road for nothing. Their stadium is overrun with em.

I’m here because we both - in different ways - did exceptionally well to get 100 points, and I’m interested in seeing how it pans out next season, for both of us. I signed up here mainly to read what you guys are saying, now and next season, but occasionally can’t resist commenting.

If they’re coming on just to troll, fair enough (reckon we’ve plenty of our own that do the same on the boards of other team) but if they’re here with different perspectives, that’s great.
