It's exactly what I think Leeds will do, spend a bomb to get enough points to handle the points deduction and build from thereCommy wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 6:01 pmI know, it's TalkS**** but I found this interesting.

Re: PSR
Haven't watched this but I'm assuming this is the Forest model?
The hard part is scraping up in season one.

Re: PSR
It would be nice if for once we could buy success. But the current US owners are not going to do that.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 06, 2025 7:03 pmIt's exactly what I think Leeds will do, spend a bomb to get enough points to handle the points deduction and build from there

Re: PSR
I’m not sure why PSR should worry either of us in the slightest. It’s a limit on how big our losses can be, in Leeds case they said up to £61m. As if somehow that’s a problem because other teams can lose £105m.
There isn’t a cat in hells chance Leeds owners will be planning on losing that much. And I would guess neither will Burnley’s (not that I know much about you).
If I’ve misunderstood PSR, please put me right.

Are we capped in Prem
Not sure if been on before but ive seen a pod cast talk sport, not really sure if I got it right but it seems that in the first year you are capped on the spending limit for that year by some£30 mill against a club with similar turnovers who have been in prem for 2 years or more . Is that correct? as it seems we are going to be capped or points docked it mentions that Forrest and Everton accepted points deduction in order to ignore spending limits.

Re: PSR
What I thought it said was that we would have a lower loss limit than teams already in so the Loss limit may be as low as £60m
Re: PSR
The rules are a joke. If it's not hard enough lately to stay up, then they limit it even more with lower loses allowed. Dont get the full PSR rules until season 3 in the PL, that's my understanding anyway.
What it means for us in my opinion, is the sales of Trafford and Esteve are even more likely to give us a budget to try and be creative with.
It's an interesting angle to spend more and take the points hit. An extremely risky approach and one I definitely wouldn't want us to take. Worked for Forest though, just.

Re: PSR
Anyone know how many points we could potentially be docked if we were in a position to go down that route ?
Re: PSR
Dont know much about it but I read Leeds still have a lot of unpaid transfer fees. I'm sure they'll spend a fair whack but cant see them going crazy.
I believe the best route for us both to go down is keep the bulk of the squad together for team spirit etc. Sprinkle in some added quality and hope it's enough in year 1.

I believe they owe over £100m in outstanding payments yes, not sure how that affects them, possibly.Walt wrote: ↑Wed May 07, 2025 12:07 pmDont know much about it but I read Leeds still have a lot of unpaid transfer fees. I'm sure they'll spend a fair whack but cant see them going crazy.

I agree. Stick with what we've got, add in a couple of experienced heads
Re: PSR
Would we not be season 2 and Leeds season 3. I might be wrong but I saw it that because Leeds have been down 2 seasons they have to wait until season 3. We have only been down 1 season so will we not only have one year at the lower rate?
Re: PSR
Sounds logical, I'm not sure to be honest.

Re: PSR
Nothing I’ve seen of our current ownership makes me think they will be anything other than prudent. Not saying that’s bad but I can’t see us spending big.

Re: PSR
Three things will help us next season:
1. Leeds spending big and playing attacking football that will still see them sliced open
2. Us being defensive - vital in year 1 as Brentford and Brighton showed (thus MUST keep Esteve and ideally Trafford)
3. Loads of unfancied teams getting into Europe - never helps their league form that season
We have a great chance if we can squeeze out 10 narrow 1-0 or 2-1 victories and half a dozen draws.
