Re: Connor Roberts
What was he doing at the end, went over to the CFS to get his own applause and then walked around with his son whilst the other players were doing their “lap”?
Re: Connor Roberts
Just a funny lad. Love his over exaggerated dancing, child like forward rolls and cartwheels on the pitch, comedy gold.

Re: Connor Roberts
Seemed to drift into midfield a lot today, which considering Millwall played two strikers, was very bold
Re: Connor Roberts
Clarets legend for me, and long may it continue. Gets the club, the fans and a solid professional

Agreed. There needs to be more Connor Roberts in football. Don’t take life too seriously and enjoy the good times

Re: Connor Roberts
I thought he suited it perfectly as he does the Parker team. It was Kompany who was trying to move him on.

He was unlucky not to get a fair crack at the PL last season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 4:46 pmI thought he suited it perfectly as he does the Parker team. It was Kompany who was trying to move him on.
Re: Connor Roberts
I don't agree. He was a different player and different character to what that squad was used to, he clearly isnt right for a team that has minimal possession. He's implied many times he wasn't happy during that period and didn't enjoy the type of football.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 4:46 pmI thought he suited it perfectly as he does the Parker team. He performances under Dyche were dreadful, so I don't think any blame lies at his door for not playing him too often

He played half of the games in his first season. In the last PL season under Kompany he started eight.Goliath wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 4:58 pmI don't agree. He made 19 league starts with 7 coming under Jackson. He wasn't settled and that was clear.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 5:28 pmHe played half of the games in his first season. In the last PL season under Kompany he started eight.
My point was his whole demeanour has changed, he looks.far more confident and comfortable in his own skin. He looked too timid when he first joined.
I'm not really sure what there is to disagree with there but nevermind.

I have never understood the love some have / had for Assignon (though I struggled to understand the love Cornet had thrown at him too, I understand Cornet was on his day a difference maker, those days weren’t common enough imo)

So you know he wasn’t settled? He’s already said that the only time he didn’t feel settled and wanted was under Kompany.Goliath wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 5:40 pmHe made 19 league starts with 7 coming under Jackson. He wasn't settled and that was clear.

Re: Connor Roberts
Has had a good season but lacked much tracking back from Edwards in the latter games to help, hence exposed at times

He didn't look timid as such. He just looked like a player who wasn't quite PL standard, which sadly, he isn't.Goliath wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 5:40 pmHe made 19 league starts with 7 coming under Jackson. He wasn't settled and that was clear.

We have several players who fall into that category.

Re: Connor Roberts
When he first joined and he wasn't a regular first team pick, didn't some one, family or friend of his, post something derogatory on social media? I might have got it wrong, but it was during his early days under Dyche when they basically said he was getting a raw deal and the club were not being fair and he (they) were very unhappy.

Just about all of our squad aren't "quite" up to PL standard

'From early on in the season I was probably at my lowest point for a long, long time"ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 6:35 pmSo you know he wasn’t settled? He’s already said that the only time he didn’t feel settled and wanted was under Kompany.
"It's hard to explain. I was really down in the dumps. I wasn't playing, I was injured, I was ill. I didn't really have a purpose. Even when I started playing when the old manager was here I wasn't really playing as well as I know I can"
And the flying full-back believes the club's bold decision to axe their long-serving boss is being fully vindicated at present.
"I saw the press came out and said ‘what are Burnley doing letting their manager go?’ but we had a little meeting and said the only thing we can do now is try to prove all those people wrong now," he explained. "We can only do that by playing better and picking up points. It’s got off to a fairly decent start."
