A man and woman have been arrested after allegedly being caught in an indecent act on a seafront car park.

Lancashire Police were called to the Batter car park on Morecambe Promenade at around 1.40pm on Saturday (May 10).

It followed a report from a member of the public of 'outraging public decency'.

A 56-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, both from Heysham were arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency and remain in custody for questioning.

Outraging public decency refers to any act of a lewd, obscene, or disgusting nature that is done in a public place where at least two people could potentially see it.

Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident to get in contact.

In a post on the Morecambe Police Facebook page last night (May 10), a force spokesperson said: "We’re appealing for information and footage following an incident in Morecambe today.

"We received a report of outraging public decency on the battery car park, on Morecambe Promenade at around 1:40pm today.

"Following enquiries, a 56-year-old man from Heysham, and a 41-year-old woman, also from Heysham were arrested on suspicion of outraging public decency. Both remain in custody.

"We believe that there may be people who witnessed this, or may have dashcam footage, who we have not yet spoken to.

"If that is you, or if you know someone who may have information to assist our enquiries, please get in touch.

"

I think it should be The Battery car park (having lived around Lancaster / Morecambe. But ‘Batter’ car park adds a little je ne sais quoi.

Don’t think that was the punch. Think the line about asking for dash cam footage or personal witnesses might be closer.

So they only have one person who could see it, hence asking for someone else to act as a witness thus making the requisite number (2) so they can go ahead and prosecute?
