Well done, Crystal Palace

Post by BurnleyFC » Sat May 17, 2025 6:30 pm

RIP Pep Fraudiola.

Hopefully, football can get back to proper attackers and proper wingers.

Maybe, but it just reminded me of how tough it's going to be next season in the PL.

It definitely is, but Pep ball is shite.

Not fit to lace Fergie or Wenger’s boots.

Fergie has been the only manager in history to rebuild a side, and go on to win further trophies.

Can Pep do the same, or is it going a bit stale?

Palace winning should give us hope next season in this god damn awful PL. They even added 10 mins on to give City the chance to equalise

TBF to the amount of injury time the Palace players were trying to waste plenty of time.

Less tough now, one other team playing European football which affects league form as we well know.

Anyway………

Well done Palace, great to see a “normal” club win it, shows what can be done if a team really tries. They deserve a trophy for their efforts over many decades, we have three, so I cannot be jealous.

Not sure but I would say he's coached the joy out of the likes of Grealish and Doku. Can't question his success but I'll be pleased once he leaves English football.

On a side note it's absolutely brilliant to see a group of players almost not know how to celebrate winning the FA Cup - that meant a lot today and had City won it nobody other than them would care.

A great result for football in general

Do we know why Pep was having heated words with Henderson the Palace keeper after the final whistle

That's one way of looking at it, but I don't see us finishing above Palace just because they have European football.

At a guess, a combination of knowing that Henderson should have been sent off and the fact he's a bad loser.

The game reminded me of our win over Liverpool. We had about 18% of the play and yet Liverpool did nothing.

We are hopefully going to see plenty more of that next season. :)

Did I hear Lineker say that there could be 10 English teams competing in Europe next season? Could be to our advantage, though there will be a hell of a lit of games on Sundays.

What competition will they play in, and are they likely to have to go through the early stages like we did?

We'd played six matches before anyone else had got started. The Aberdeen game was in the middle of summer! :)

I hope we dont spend the season playing 5-4-1 with us having 11 men defending our box for 80 minutes looking for a quick counter.

I hope we do, if it means getting some points. Because that would be intelligent coaching versus mostly superior opposition

I think it might be just about the only way we could remain competitive. We saw last time how much quality the other teams have and if the gaps are there they'll sure as hell find them and slice through.

They qualify automatically for the Europa League Group stage. They'll have 8 group games during the season but no qualifiers.

We had years of it under Dyche, it becomes a bit of a chore turning up week after week watching us have 2 or 3 shots a game whilst we desperately hang on to a point and inevitably concede in the last 15 mins.

Would you say that was worse or better than Kompany's persistent open style of play which saw us concede regularly game after game at Turf Moor?

It's the only way we have any chance of staying up next season. The first season has to be an ugly war in every game. Stay up and we can start to build on that.

There is some merit in what you're saying, but it became more of a 'chore' as that Dyche side got older and couldn't really launch counter attacks anymore as we had little pace. When Wood left we didn't even really have the aerial threat either.

Personally I found last season, as in 23-24 a 'chore' as we got slapped so many times at Turf Moor it was the best away day for many teams as they strolled to an easy GD boosting 3 points against us.

Do you think that if you make the same point on different threads that people will actually believe you?

Invading the pitch isn't passion, it's idiocy!

a) because he cannot accept losing,

b) presumably because Guardiola told him he should have been sent off.

Guardiola is a tool.
