On what evidence? Can’t be playing history because Worrall wins that hands down. He’s consistently played at a higher level. Nottingham Forest club captain as well. I like Ekdal but let’s face it, he hasn’t played much for us.

Ekdal has played a handful of games in a team that had virtually won promotion against some really poor opposition.
Some of the squad of 22/23 are still held in the highest esteem by some on here which influences the dislike of players brought into replace them.

Spot on.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 9:59 amHe's a proven, very good central defender, certainly at Championship level. Over 200 league games for Forest under his belt and just 27 when we signed him. Unfortunately picked up an injury in September and has had only a few minutes here and there since in the league due to CJ's performances.
He was also excellent away at Elland Road in our one nil win.
He was a sensible signing at the time and nothing has changed.

Seems like people are judging his entire career on the back of a shocking team performance at Preston earlier this season in the FA cup.

Agreed and thrown in with a load of changes to the squad. Not many players came out of that game with any glory- was it Shelvey who was supposed to be protecting the back 4?
Re: ARTICLE: Ekdal goes out on loan
As well as a good display at Leeds, Worrall also turned in a good performance at Southampton in the middle of a back three. Not much opportunity for him to get back in given the form of the defensive duo, but his relentless barking of instructions on the side whilst warming up as a sub tells me he's someone we want to keep around.
Not bothered at all about the PNE display. He was far from the only one to have a shocker that day.

Tbf I genuinely did bump into Blake (and Elliot, Alexander and Bikey) in the Costa at the Tesco's on Centenary Way the day after we beat Everton in our second PL home match of 2009. They even signed my son's programme which we retrieved from the car. Not sure what they got to take out though, although Blake needed two hands for his!

Re: ARTICLE: Ekdal goes out on loan
Groningen lost today unfortunately, so Ekdal has played his last game for Groningen (at least, for now). For anyone who's interested, the local news station interviewed him after the match (bottom of the page, interview of around five minutes).Der_Groninger_Claret wrote: ↑Wed May 14, 2025 11:20 pmA little update as Ekdal has one game left to play in the Eredivisie this season. He has been a steady, important player, although his lack of pace sometimes showed last match v AZ. Most Groningen fans agree however that he's been class, and that he has also helped to make his CB partner, Blokzijl, a better player. Blokzijl is just 20 years old and I think he is quite similar to Egan-Riley as both have a good passing range. Both the Groningen fans and the board have made it clear that they want to keep Ekdal, but the club probably doesn't have the money. One thing that can help him to stay is when they qualify for next season's Conference League. Groningen can still make the European qualification play-offs, but need to win next weekend away at PEC.
Btw, Blokzijl scored a very important goal today v Ajax in the 100th minute, with the game ending in a 2-2 draw. Ajax seem to have handed the title now to PSV (with Ajax being winless in the last 4 matches), and everyone who is not an Ajax fan enjoys that, because we really dislike the arrogance of that club and Amsterdam's inhabitants in general. Weghorst also plays for them, and he did not take the result well haha, running straight down the tunnel after full time![]()
