Posted losses overall due to debt, but made a profit overall. And of course he bought players that got us promoted. Kompany was successful for us, even though it was very short term.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 7:17 pmI’m not sure many did sell for a profit did they?

Re: Summer transfer window
Kompany, bought for £0. Sold for £10m

I make that about £55m profit, obvs less agent fees etc. But we also bring in loan fees for others too so it sorts of nets off.
Whatever we lose on a few other players, it won’t exceed that. That tells me we have quite a bit left for strengthening.
Re: Summer transfer window
Two young French prospects joining.
Not been given the names (yet) but one central midfielder and one left sided defender.

Re: Summer transfer window
True. I get as excited about our academy signings as first team anyway. That’s probably not true if we were signing really established players for the first team but given we tend to go in to Europe where I’ve never heard of the players anyway, a young lad from PSG for the academy is still exciting.RicardoMontalban wrote: ↑Tue May 20, 2025 11:08 amLack of names and/or any media buzz suggests so. That said, with recent Cat 1 update it may still be exciting, if a little bit of delayed gratification.
Hopefully the Cat 1 status and PL2 next season will mean we can attract some players that might not previously been accessible to us and put on a decent show!

With 8 or 9 prem teams in Europe this season, it’s got to be great news for Burnley and our hopes of staying up.

- the actual cost of acquisition
- the actual selling price
- any associated costs of 'disposal' (to use the industry term) including but not limited to sell on clauses, agent fees and if
- any conditional payments were activated in contract for any of these players.

What do people think about Virginia coming in if Trafford leaves. Leaves Everton out of contract. 25 and wants first team football.
Everton fans seem to rate him. Been alright when I have seen him.

Cullen is worth his weight in gold and more to a championship club. Maybe rather less to a PL club.

Re: Summer transfer window
If he played for a different team and we were linked with him, I’d have no issue at all with us paying up to £10m for him. I’d say he’s worth more but I am probably in the minority. Absolute rolls Royce of a player imo

Anass 3 went for 9
Muric 2.5 went for 10
Dara 8 went for 15
Al Dakhil 3 went for 8
Berge 12.5 went for 20
Odobert 8 went for 30+
Vitinho 1 went for 8
Esteve and Trafford will hugely boost that too.

Kompany might have done a sh*t trick at the end but he left us in a better place financially & more importantly his departure even benefited us financially. Overall it's difficult to find 1 negative even with the relegation that could have happened with anybody.

Re: Summer transfer window
Two posters have answered your question on players we made a profit on.
The trouble is, the transfer fees (which are always undisclosed) they claim to be in-the-know about are rather different.
Either, they're reading different dodgy sites or just making figures up.
Re: Summer transfer window
Just read the Humphries will cost us £15million with percentage sell on.No idea how true that is. Seems more than has been previously suggested.

Not sure about replacement. I think he plays next season alongside Esteve. Was faultless in a back 5 last season at Southampton and may even start as left back in a 4. We shall see. Great signing.

Quotes from Ekdal…
“Could I stay at Groningen? There is always a chance, of course. We are talking about it now and have to see what will happen. But there are several factors, like my club (Burnley) in England.
It’s not unrealistic, but of course there will be other options. I want to wait and see. I want to consider all the options.”

Re: Summer transfer window
Where are we with needing, at least 8 home-grown players in the 25 man squad.
Re: Summer transfer window
Of the players we had in the squad last season who are technically still with us, I make it 13 players:
Trafford
Roberts
Humphries
CJER
Worrall
Laurent
Cullen
Brownhill
Anthony
Edwards
Ramsey
Hannibal
Barnes
