I think the fact this didn’t even warrant an article on this site is a real shame. I appreciate that some don’t have an interest in the woman’s game, but as a site that alleges to be a proponent of all news about the Clarets, the women’s team becoming full time is big news. Far bigger than the U18 fixtures mid season IMHO.
This attitude is the reason the women’s game has struggled for so long! Let’s allow the quality to improve by getting behind it and allowing our daughters and granddaughters to become part of something hopefully of real quality in future!
I don't think there's ever been an article about the women's team on here
I've only been to one game, and it was ok, always look out for the results as it's part of our football club.

You'd have to pay ME to watch women's football and even then I'd leave as soon as the gates opened.

Thankfully no one is forcing you, and better still, no one is paying you!

I’m sure the mods would have no problem with someone writing an article(s) about the women’s side. Why don’t you do it?

It’s simple for me.
They’re both BFC teams, and like the youth teams I support them.
The hypocrisy of some and even worse some of the comments are laughable.
Wait for the inevitable two week sit down.

Nah.. you can't ask anyone to be interested in it or push it. I've got into it as my daughter's been playing and appreciate it for what it is, but prior to that I'd probably have had the same lack of interest as many do. Hopefully I wouldn't have been so unnecessarily 'look at me' disrespectful about it, but that attitude almost always comes from the men least able to play at any sort of level. Or just women hating weirdos like Joey Barton.

The thing is, those that criticise women’s football saying it’s rubbish quality, are comparing it to the mens game. It needs to be watched as a separate game format
You wouldn’t an u18 men’s game and say the players aren’t up to the same standard of the 1st team, just like you wouldn’t watch the women’s 100m relay and say it’s not as fast as the men’s 100m relay

The women's pole vault is superior to the men's.

The problem I have with a lot of views that express a dislike for women’s football is the theme of misogyny, as just illustrated by equinox.

Absolutely nothing. I don’t really have any interest in watching it myself. I was referring to equinox’s comment about female pole vaulting which is obviously misogynistic.

People do think it’s exciting and entertaining based on that’s it’s women’s football.
Those that don’t are basing it compared to men’s football
There’s nothing wrong with that. If you’ve watched men’s football long enough it’s only natural to do so but to discount women’s football solely on that basis is wrong.
I wonder how many of those discounting it would do so if their daughters or partners played

I'm not discounting it. But if you are a "professional" at anything you have to be able to justify what you are professional at in terms of income created.

I kind of agree. But I also don't think it's down to CT to write articles on stuff he's not interested in.
It would be nice to have someone who is following our women's team closely to add articles to the site though. But that needs someone to volunteer.

I found this but it's from seven years ago
The 11 clubs* who will be part of the FA WSL academy programme are (listed with their relevant TASS delivery site):
Arsenal / University of Hertfordshire
Birmingham City / University of Birmingham
Brighton & Hove Albion / University of Brighton
Bristol City / University of Gloucester
Chelsea / St Mary’s University
Liverpool and Everton / Liverpool John Moores University
Manchester City / Manchester Metropolitan University
Reading /Buckinghamshire New University
West Ham United / University of East London
Yeovil Town / University of Exeter
*In addition, The FA East Region U19 programme, in partnership with Ipswich Town, will also compete in the competition programme and plans are developing to establish a North East Academy for next season.
Ah, this is what I was thinking of

As has been referenced, folks' concerns regarding Burnley Women going professional are the financial impact it may have on the men's team.
Which are also my concerns, too. If having a successful Women's team without being financially detrimental to the priority, then let it roll.
As I'm sure we've heard it before - we're Burnley, not Barcelona

This is the crux of it for me. Can the finance generated from ladies football justify the investment in it?
Not misogynistic to say that. Why should they get preferential treatment?
I hope Burnley ladies are successful, but this would be tempered by not at the expense of the men’s team.

100% this.
The club and it's facilities being inclusive can only be a good thing if it's a sensible economic model.
Getting into a p1ssing contest with the clubs at the top of the food chain will only end up in tears.

I watch UFC and Boxing quite a lot and the owner of UFC stated a few years ago we would ‘NEVER’ see a woman fighting in the UFC ….
Since then we have had numerous Female stars in the UFC and also in boxing selling out arenas and PPV’s …
Billions in revenue and he’s very much admits to eating his words
The quality of the top female fighters is high and very entertaining
The woman’s game will spark at some point and then it will be profitable … but it needs stars for that to happen …
I’m not massive on the woman’s game as I’ve said … it’s got a long way to go in terms of quality but it will come but without the funding and investment … it’s much less likley

Having watched some of our ladies' games/ highlights I'd have to conclude that very few, if any, are really capable of justifying a wage which would allow them to see football as their only source of income. However, I believe a fair few of them have been released so perhaps we already have better players coming in.

If this is your criteria then in the men's championship you're going to have about three teams left. Most of the EFL teams are running at big losses.

As a cynic, we could charge certain facilities, maybe 50% of Gawthorpe costs to the Women's team, if that helps the men's team accounts.....

IMO it shouldn’t. It’s a loss leader to promote the club. But more so, the women’s games is decades behind the men’s and so needs a disproportionate level of investment to help it step up.
The same is true in cycling.
