Awful end to a great performance and it made me wonder, what would be the uproar if that had happened in the UK? It would be outrage I’d suggest, all over the news with changes to the future policing and maybe the law probably resulting. Do we hold ourselves to a higher standard and do we simply accept it overseas as being a cultural norm?

Brits are good at criticising ourselves but we in the UK should acknowledge we are the best at many things, such as ensuring our top sporting events are generally safe and family oriented. That is something to be proud of.

Shocking scenes. French police have huge resources too compared to what we have here. After the Bataclan they were able to deploy 80k (armed) officers in the manhunt. We’d probably be able to muster a minibus of PCSO’s.

No mate, I’m not complaining, I am asking a genuine question to try to understand which metric we can use to identify exactly what we are the best at as a nation.

i) chuck objects around;
ii) smash up buildings, cars, shops etc;
ii) loot
iv) have a go at the police

Some of these people are politically motivated (far left/far-right/anarchists), others are lads (or older lads) up for a "laugh".

The British clichés about France during the war are a little simplistic. Yes, the French didn't withstand the German invasion for long. For a number of reasons.

However, it's not right to portray all French people as cowards. Today is 6 June. D-Day. The Free French Forces took part as they did in the invasion of Provence, the liberation of Corsica and parts of North Africa.

It should also be recalled that thousands of French men and women joined the different Resistance forces during the Nazi occupation of the country.
