Wirtz Transfer

Post by Yorkshirelad » Fri Jun 13, 2025 6:14 pm

Does anyone else think the transfer market as gone crazy. Is anyone in this current market really worth over £100,000,000.

For me it’s time for someone to say enough is enough

I know I’m just a Burnley supporter and I may have my head in the sand but I have never heard of him

You could probably get Mbuemo and Wissa for a similar fee combined......

140 senior career appearances in the Bundesliga and 31 appearances for the German national team. He is only 22 years old.

100+ million is bonkers, but it's about right.

I remember in the 90's when Rovers bought Alan Shearer for £3.6 million from Southampton. It was seen as a massive amount at the time.

It's always a lot of money, but i don't think it's as mad as the 100+ million Chelsea paid for Caicedo, or the 107 million Chelsea also paid for Enzo Fernandez.

Liverpool have made some excellent signings early, and Wirtz has the right attributes to do very well in the prem I think.

I could be well off with this, and I get that he's young, but I just don't see him fully adapting to the physical demands of the PL.

There's no doubt that he is an exceptionally talented player, though to me, he looks lightweight and has a small build.
The Bundesliga is nowhere near as physical as the Premier League, and there have been many standout players from the Bundesliga who have failed to adapt to the demands of the Premier League.

Oooft Cool, a friendly bet here that he does very well.

Also:
Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany, Ilkay Gundogan, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Michael Ballack, Son, Haaland, Havertz, Sane.

A few flops too granted but plenty of success stories!

Yeah fair one, good retort - I'm just not fully convinced (happy to be wrong!)

Why would you do that though when Wirtz is better and younger than the pair of them?

Marmoush at City too. He's not exactly built like Patrick Viera, but he's been very decent.

Werner looked a very good player at RB Leipzig before playing in the Prem, but then looked out of his depth once here.

Kai Havertz is another one who hasn't adapted well.
