Connie Francis RIP

Post by ClaretTony » Thu Jul 17, 2025 4:31 pm

I'm sure anyone under a certain age will have no idea who she is/was but the 'Pretty Little Baby' Connie Francis has died today aged 87.

Sad news
I remember as a youngster listening to her song “Stupid Cupid “
She was the first female singer I remember and then of course Alma Cogan and wonderful Dusty Springfield
RIP

When I was at BGS I did Spanish for "o" level and our teacher was a bloke called Harry Halford . He was a real character , wore winkle pickers and drainpipe pants .He was a great teacher and made the lessons really interesting .One of his favourite tricks was to play us Connie Francis records in Spanish... I remember Malaguena in particular...and ever since then I've collected her records .She had a huge following in the Spanish-speaking world .Anybody remember HH ?

My Dad’s favourite. Surreal that she only survived him by ten days. RIP Connie thanks for the joy you brought him xx

Her songs were / are still great for line dancing. Lipstick on your collar is an ever popular favourite. RIP

elwa - just picked up on your post. I'd no idea your dad had passed away. It's some time since I last saw him but really sorry to hear this news.

Another favourite of mine from an era long ago. Went through some desperate times in her life. She was a victim of rape and her brother a victim of a 'mafia hit'.Very distinctive voice. RIP Connie Francis.
