It's painful. There's a clamour for equal recognition and commercial aspects of the women's game, but these ladies her tonight are really struggling to strike the ball. They're supposed to be professionals after all

Better team lost. James played the whole game as though she didn’t want to be there and her pen was a pathetic back pass.

Lauren Janes can kick like a mule but like every arrogant 'super player' she thinks she can just stroke the ball side-footed. Keeper sees it a mile away.

Hopeless all.

Probably some of the worst penalties I’ve ever witnessed, so soft the keeper could re-adjust to save most of them (from both sides).

Special word for Lauren James - I’ve watched about 20 of her matches now, not a huge number I confess, and I can’t recall her ever impressing me. Isn’t she meant to be one of our best players?

On the flipside, Kelly and Bronze, unbelievable. Great talent. Great mentality.

I was thinking more of the control and spotting of feet left in etc.
Fair enough, but 4 corners were incorrectly given as goal kicks, one clear elbow ignored, multiple freekicks given when either the ball was cleanly won or given the wrong way, got in the way of play twice nearly costing England a goal on one occasion ,booking a Sweden player when they clearly won the ball

Other than that, good game

Some shocking penalties there. At least Lucy Bronze knew how to take a penalty.

Certainly seems that just belting it into the goal has gone out of fashion for some reason.

... can we at least stop being gaslit into thinking it's of good quality? It's a joke; these are well-paid professionals, and it's embarrassing that this is masqueraded as a high-level sport.

I’m genuinely unaware as I don’t watch too much of it but are all the referees from the women’s game? I feel like if they want the best tournament then have the best refs including those from the men’s game too who all have a summer off with no euros/wc etc. They have male managers but do they draw the line at male refs?

Not being a d1ck I just don’t know how they organise it.

Proper Michael Duff vibes on that Bronze pen!

Don’t look at the keeper- just leather it down the middle as hard as chuffing possible!

I don’t know any of the stats behind this, but from watching 10 minutes of that, I’d suggest Lucy Bronze is possibly one of our best 5 penalty takers. What was she on, 7th or 8th?!
