Could & should be the best tournament in cricket for our sides, i just think its badly managed. Its better than it was but still a bit of a farceBigRedrose wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 2:51 pmThere will be a bowl out at Turf Moor if the rain stops, failing that, the toss of a coin. Shocking way to decide the outcome of the LCF Knock Out competition.Decision likely around 3pm.

Very difficult to arrange reply dates with the fact you’ve often got Saturday leagues playing Sunday leagues.
Cruel way to go out but I can’t think of any examples recently where one of the best sides around hasn’t won’t the competition. Would have been criminal had Salesbury found themselves in the final this year on the back of two bowl outs against Blackpool and Formby.

- The players don’t like it. Too much extra cricket. Adds to the load especially if you’re still in the WC, T20 and fighting for the league.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 5:14 pmCould & should be the best tournament in cricket for our sides, i just think its badly managed. - Playing teams in leagues where most players are paid. Northern are a quality side, but they pay well in the comp.
- No replays. We went out to the toss of a coin vs Ormskirk a few years back
- Travel - two trips to the lakes this year. 7 hour game of cricket then the travel back.
- Pre drawn full competition. We knew we’d be away in the lakes if we won, twice, prior to even playing.
Just my two penneth.

Give over. It's cup cricket. Anything can happen.Alan Young wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 7:58 pmVery difficult to arrange reply dates with the fact you’ve often got Saturday leagues playing Sunday leagues.

They just got luckier than Gareth Southgate draw wise.

They didn’t get a lucky draw at all. Blackpool and Formby are top sides. That’s my point.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:08 pmGive over. It's cup cricket. Anything can happen.

Interesting that players don’t like it. Back in 90s and 00s the LKO was very popular at the club I was involved in, Greenmount. We had a few trips to the final at OT and Aigburth. Also some notable coach trips to grounds like Blackpool, Ormskirk and Colwyn Bay.Hopey wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:03 pm- The players don’t like it. Too much extra cricket. I don't know their full draw history, but they played Blackrod at home in their quarter final, which i thought was a fortunate draw, with some of the clubs still in.Alan Young wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:11 pmThey didn’t get a lucky draw at all. Blackpool and Formby are top sides. That’s my point.
As for bowl outs, it's better than a coin toss.

We got to OT in 2019, but it rained so we shared the trophy. OT is no longer on the cards either. So, it’s Blackpool this year.NL Claret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:20 pmInteresting that players don’t like it. Back in 90s and 00s the LKO was very popular at the club I was involved in, Greenmount. Common knowledge that the Lowerhouse players don't like it and see it as a pointless distraction. As a supporter it's good to get to different grounds and Penrith and Netherfield were both nice. Netherfield in particular was a lovely ground.Hopey wrote: ↑Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:03 pm- The players don’t like it. Too much extra cricket. I'm still of the opinion we went in half hearted to that game. The performance was too far out of character to the rest of the season.
It should be so much better as a competition though. The draw i find a farce. Get drawn out first you are guaranteed a home game all the way through. Drawn last always away. Where is any incentive or monetary gain if you are always away? How hard can it be to draw each round? If the Lancs League can do it for the Worsley Cup im sure Lancashire can do it.

If you have any suggestions to make your club want to play in it more, pass them on to the club rep and ask them to pass it on.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:28 pmCommon knowledge that the Lowerhouse players don't like it and see it as a pointless distraction. Cricket has to keep evolving at the minute and so does this comp. With plenty of leagues merging, it stops a lot of the old clubs taking part.

It should be regarded as a competition you want to play in..a competition that is held in high regard because of only being able to qualify through league position. It is more or less the Champions League of Lancashire cricket.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 6:32 pmIf you have any suggestions to make your club want to play in it more, pass them on to the club rep and ask them to pass it on.

.....but it isn't. At least at Lowerhouse it isn't and importantly that comes from the players.
My suggestion about the draw is from my perspective but it's the people directly involved that need to engage and come up with ideas.

The draw quandary has been raised numerous times and mooted.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 6:53 pmIt should be regarded as a competition you want to play in..a competition that is held in high regard because of only being able to qualify through league position.
