The aggro is good so long as it doesn't get physical imo. Shows how competitive the players are. Wouldn't go as far as half wanting India to level it. I've got Oval tickets, would like us to be still at least one up to make it a bit less anxious..boatshed bill wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 9:06 pmThis is a brilliant test series.
Plenty of aggro between the teams too.
I almost want India to win the next test top take it to a 5th test decider.

Crawley, Pope and Bashir (obviously because injured). Reality is that won’t happen.

Yes, it would be very tense, but a brilliant finale.
A series like this can only be good for test cricket, maybe increase interest.
And I agree about the aggro, it's being taken a bit too far, IMO.

He isn’t a better bat than woakes althouhbhe is the perfect guy to replace him in the order if he is rested like is expected. I hope Atkinson comes in for the next 1 if archer plays again we will be close to our best bowling lineupNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 9:53 pmDawson would be a fantastic option at number 8 in the line up.
Would give us some serious lower order batting strength

Re: England vs India Third test
How strict are they at old Trafford for the party stand? Only tickets left and I fancy taking my teenage lad over to watch it. Any help on the matter is appreciated.
Re: England vs India Third test
How old is he? 16 years old is the age restriction but having been a few times I don’t recall anyone ever asking, and a 16 year old wouldn’t have ID anyway. I’d say he would have to be able to pass for 16 maybe?blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 2:04 pmHow strict are they at old Trafford for the party stand? If bethell and Dawson make the team our batting line up would be looking incredibly strong.

Dawson has a better first class batting average than Crawley!!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 15, 2025 3:51 pm

Managed to get 2 in the north stand I think it is now. Paid a bit more but looking forward to it.

Dawson the only change to the team.
Forecast not the best for the first day but looking ok after that.

Re: England vs India Third test
How on earth do the selectors justify picking Crawley. His England batting record is abysmal.
In 104 innings he’s managed 5 centuries. To make it even worse after those 5 centuries his next best score is 79!
On 41 occasions he’s scored 9 or less including 10 ducks and has 12 scores between 10 and 19.
Surely someone else should stand a chance after all this.

Re: England vs India Third test
I think Crawley could get four ducks in the last two tests and still keep his place. They’ve hung their hat on him for The Ashes.
Hopefully this week will see one of his rare big scores.

Re: England vs India Third test
Crawley 3151 runs in 104 innings av 30.9
Root 13259 in 285 innings av 50.8
Loads of England cricketers over the years far far better than Crawley's stats
Even Bairstow scored 6042 runs in 178 innings av 36.39
Should he continue his present stats after 285 innings he would be over 4500 runs short of Root's total

Having averaged 8 yes 8 in 6 innings against New Zealand last winter the selectors must have considered his 124 against the world test batting might of Zimbabwe in May enough to prove what a great opener he is.
In the same tour Jacob Bethel, scored 260 in 6innkngs averaging 52 with 3 x 50’s batting at No 3. He virtually opened with Crawley out after 12 balls in the first innings and 8 in the second. He also bowled taking 3 for 77 in 15 overs in the three tests.

He also chose playing in the IPL over returning for a test match.......Squidgy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 5:42 pmHaving averaged 8 yes 8 in 6 innings against New Zealand last winter the selectors must have considered his 124 against the world test batting might of Zimbabwe in May enough to prove what a great opener he is.
