Joe Root

Post by Tackler49 » Fri Jul 25, 2025 7:22 pm

Has a hardened all things Lancashire supporter it DOESN’T pain me to say what a player Joe Root is he is calm and reassuring when bats you almost expect a hundred every time he bats being second behind Tendulkar for the most test runs is not too shabby Well done Joe

His problem is he doesn’t convert enough 150’s to 200’s.

A tremendous all round cricketer. If he stays fit he should eclipse Tendulkar's all time record in the next couple of years.
The best English player of spin in my lifetime, unbelievable temperament, excellent slip fielder and also pops up with an important wicket or two!
Also seems a thoroughly nice chap, for a Yorkshire man of course.

Love the guy and is a joy to watch. Looks so solid, composed and comfortable in his own cricketing skin as he's got older.
Will need him to have a massive series down under if we wanna win it.

He’s truly excellent. Didn’t think I’d see anyone as cool and composed as Cook, but he’s another level. What a talent. He stays injury free and he becomes number 1.

That was my problem too, except for one small fact - I generally just about managed to score 150 in an entire season, let alone 1 innings!

Such a great player, and he is a product of modern cricket, scoring at a relatively prodigious rate for Test Cricket!

To be an all time great he needs a couple of ton’s in Australia it’s only thing missing from his batting CV. Hopefully he will put that right in this upcoming ashes series.

He seems to be taking it steady, not giving any chances.. then he’s on 50 again and he’s been scoring at 5 or 6 an over and nobody has noticed.

Couldn't give a toss where he's from. He's one of the best ever to play the game and it's a privilege to watch him.

A tremendous all round cricketer. If he stays fit he should eclipse Tendulkar's all time record in the next couple of years.

He is 2512 runs short of that record. Will take more than 2 years batting for England although as a test batsman from 2012-now it looks like an average of over 1000 runs per season playing for England-pretty phenomenal. Scored almost 1000 runs more than Cook in 5 fewer innings.

Not sure how many tests England play a year they reckon with his current average per game it will take around 30 games for him to get the runs, I would imagine it would be nearer 3 years than 2 though.

Article here with England's test schedule and how many games it might take.
