The club can build what ever they want but if away fans have the choice of being stuck in a fan zone paying minimum £6.50 a pint or going to the cricket club and probably paying half or less for a pint I know where they'll still goCyril_Sneer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 7:13 amThe reason the cricket club won’t relocate, which would enable an expansion of the cricket field stand, is because of the revenue they receive from away fans on match day.
The club are building an away fan drinking area, which will deprive the cricket club of that revenue, meaning they are more likely to accept relocation.
More money for the football club and opens up the opportunity to expand the cricket field all in one move.

Definitely, but I think that’s what you get for waiting 20 years to do something about it! Frustrating, given how much cash we accumulated in that period.

I think we have to wait and hear what the plans are, but I very much doubt we would announce redevelopment of the car park if it were not linked to broader ground redevelopment.Alan Young wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 12:39 amAn additional fanzone (possibly for away fans) is a waste of resource in my opinion and would suggest there’s no short or even mid term plan to do anything serious with the actual stand facilities.
Could such a building also host a pavilion and stand for the cricket club, for example, allowing us the space we need at the back of the CFS to expand?

Sounds like a select few have been given the plans whilst the rest of us will be notified as and when.

Re: Cricket field stand
I do not buy this “club are at loggerheads with the cricket club and want them out” theory at all.
Let’s say they sell 1000 pints on a match day. Thats say £5k gross revenue and probably £2k net profit, at a guess. If they were so desperate for that money they could do something to attract fans in to the ground/fan zone earlier. Bands, happy hours, whatever. As a community club I really don’t think they’re that bothered about snatching the last penny from surrounding businesses or they’d try a lot harder. They’d have probably bought the Park View when it was for sale, too.
They really don’t need the land. If they had it all they’d have too much unless it was part of a much bigger rebuild and repositioning of Turf Moor, with hotels/housing, etc. I just cannot see that at all - most we can hope for is a gradual replacement of CFS and BL, hopefully in a good quality design that could eventually be followed around at some point in future. With repositioning of the pitch, most we need is a few meters.
As you say, far more reasonable for all sides to partner and work together on a solution that could dramatically upgrade their facilities to help them make more money year round.

The club can't just pull out stand down and rebuild as we'd need to use their land to complete the build even if it was a like for like stand which would disrupt their cricket season, it isn't feasible.
The club have offered in the past to build them a new cricket ground which was refused, we did also enquire about buying the park view but they wanted a lot more money when they knew it was BFC enquiring so we pulled away and rightly so.
I believe fulledge rec was once an option if this was the case maybe the club go back and offer it there again with a massive car park which the cricket club could use for revenue then the cricket club could offer cheap pre and post match pints/food which would likely get more home fans in than they currently do meaning a similar income

I think there’s only ever been one serious proposal from BFC to the cricket club and that was the relocation to Fulledge, which was opposed by local residents.

The new plans are mainly for the corners next to the CFS. Not seen anything about improving the stand itself. Assume this means they can develop that stand when they do get round to it.
I agree with the point though.

I was replying to Cyril’s theory that the club were attempting to cut off the cricket clubs matchday revenues from away fans so that they’ll ultimately sell up.bumba wrote: ↑Mon Jul 14, 2025 10:42 amIt's not the club that needs the money it's the cricket club which that type of money to them regular is huge!

I don’t buy it because I don’t think they need the relatively small volume of sales they’ll make (appreciate its massive to the cricket club) or need the land - if we had it, what would we do with it all? We don’t need a massively bigger ground and any redevelopment of that site would need a lot of investment which we presumably don’t have?
The cricket club is a great, unique feature of our ground, particularly for away fans. Invested in, we’re better with it than without it.
Was aware that the former Park View owners got all giddy with a club enquiry, but equally if we really wanted it we’d have waited until they accepted an offer and then gazumped them. But we walked away. My over riding point is I’m really not sure the club are desperate to monopolise matchday income from local businesses.

I recall it must be a good 20 years ago Stoke ripped out all their seats and gave them away to none other than Galway United , who had them for a number of years then they were given away to fans who wanted them .
A friend of mine has 4 seats in a row in his back garden .

Re: Cricket field stand
Someone on here said the tunnel between the cricket field and Longside stands had gone and I was told the switch would be made for the first game. I've asked my mate from Sunderland to let me know what seat he gets when they go on sale up there, that will confirm it if our club haven't said anything.

Quite shocking communication.
The chances of this being anything other than a logistical shambles are pretty slim.
Re: Cricket field stand
Some good ideas here and good to see the club being proactive in trying to improve the atmosphere. I’d still be a bit annoyed if I had to move seats after I’d bought them though.

I literally can't get my head round this. I know people who have no idea that they won't get the seat they have paid for. I know a small amount of people who do know and aren't happy about it.
How has this gone unchallenged by the FAB.
It doesn't actually say it on the club statement does it but I take it this means the seats are definitely being switched?

That's not entirely true. They don't have the power to influence any change I agree but they can definitely give their opinion on what they're told. Wether they choose to or not is a different story.
