So if we batter Lazio next weekend would it be wrong to praise the team?

Haven’t been able to watch but I’d rather us throw one in during pre season than during the season.

As I said yesterday to much criticism. The squad as it is are a million miles of staying up. Broke coming in is a boost but we need more

Defensively we have been good again, minus the corner we haven’t been remotely worried by Stoke but in the same breath we haven’t been worried Stoke one bit.

We look to have a striker coming in but without 2 quality midfielders coming in, we won’t be anywhere near creative enough

One of those where Parker will probably have learnt more from a defeat than had we won. See how we do next weekend.

The amount of folk on here getting bothered about freindlies. They mean absolutely zilch they are fitness work outs, players getting minutes is what it’s all about, which is why I stopped attending them years ago.Wait 2 weeks for your in depth analysis when it actually counts.

Where are the meltdowns, fam? Seems like people have just made reasonable observations on the 90 minutes just played.

Can’t read too much into the game. We looked alright, then the ref started his shenanigans. Poor goal conceded, ref continued his nonsense. We didn’t help ourselves.

Didn’t really tell us anything we weren’t already aware of, the Lazio game will likely be more of a preview.

I’m happily resigned to us going down no matter what happens in the transfer window or friendlies. Just enjoy the journey and the wins when they happen, as well as another decent run at the championship in 12 months.

That's not what the commentator said. He said the FA rule on it and frequently do carry the ban into a league game.
That commentator also said that Jordan Beyer played a lot of games for us last season!

I know it's only a friendly and the team selection was a bit strange, but I'll repeat what I've said many times.... If we start the season with Laurent, Anthony and Edwards in the starting eleven, we are going to struggle.
Also, Weiss looked very shaky in goal to me.
On the positive side, Esteve, Walker and Hartman looked fine. Finally I wanted to comment on the ref, but I'm a bit lost for words.

Why is it meaningless?

I watched today’s game as well as last week at Huddersfield and it’s quite clear we’re struggling with any threat to the opposition. A midfield who are one dimensional and a lack of pace and creativity. You tend to see patterns of play that the team have been working on over the summer in friendlies but it just looked a bit of a shambles to me with no focal point (which clearly doesn’t help).

Shall we wait to see it against a better opposition where it’ll be even more noticeable before it’s meaningful?

And before anyone says it, there’s no meltdown. These are observations and concerns from the two games I’ve watched over the last week.

Never read too much into the pre season friendlies but that was a bad game and slightly concerning (although the refs antics did completely destroy the game and since then it became nothing but a bit of fitness).

It didn’t really highlight a lot to any of us. Just showed the areas we are really weak, Centre midfield and up top.

Big week or so ahead. But I suspect that is as close to our starting eleven vs spurs as we are likely to see.

Ref ruined the game which was a shame but may help our fitness and sharpness.

Hartmann the standout for me. Superb both forward and back. Looks to be the signing of the summer. Though I very much hope the striker and defensive midfielder we need will eclipse that. Both positions we were lacking in today.

Hopefully we can shift the likes of Brun Larsen, Benson, Delcroix, Worrall, Foster and I’d even loan out Koleosho. The squad is so bloated of players who aren’t good enough.

we’ve got about 8 wide players and I still think we need another. 3 keepers and we still need another. 6 centre halves and we still need another.

JBL, Koleosho and (to an extent) Foster showed they can play at PL level last time.

Yawn....

Are we not allowed to post views on games now?

I think most of the 'keyboard warrior' comments have been fairly constructive and fair. If you don't agree, why don't you reply with something equally constructive instead of just taking the lazy narrative you have?

He showed he can offer something already. Goal every 200 minutes. He played as a striker today which isn’t his role.

Both Foster and Koleosho should be important players too. I’d have all 3 of them starting at Spurs.
