He’s reached the point where under 21 football is no longer going to benefit him so he is going to get to play first team football on a regular basis hopefully.

Good luck to the lad as he needs to play regular football at a competitive level as he as no chance at the moment of playing in first team especially when we got promoted last season , if we were in the championship could see him in the squad but not ready for Premier league yet, hopefully in the future..

And who is a better judge of a player, someone who works with him, sees him in training, seems him in matches plus access to any data he requires or you ?
Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
I suspect he might indeed have stayed had we not gone up but we did and so he needed a loan.Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 7:36 amGood luck to the lad as he needs to play regular football at a competitive level as he as no chance at the moment of playing in first team especially when we got promoted last season , if we were in the championship could see him in the squad but not ready for Premier league yet, hopefully in the future..

Relevance to my post? If you're saying Parker didn't think him good enough then logically he wouldn't be frustrated to not play him, as the post I was responding to was suggesting. So you'd be agreeing with me?claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 8:00 amAnd who is a better judge of a player, someone who works with him, sees him in training, seems him in matches plus access to any data he requires or you ?
Or are you just trying to get a dig in at me because I think Bauress was good enough to have the place in the squad that Shelvey occupied (costing hundreds of thousands of pounds in the process) and Parker didn't? So I must be wrong?

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
46 games in League Two will be just what he needs, regardless of standard. If he proves to be as above that level as I think we all think he is then he will probably get shuffled up a league or two in January. It's win/win. He's still only 19, plenty of time to make it at Burnley yet.

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
It’s easy to say he’s better than League Two, but a) he’s never started a game at any level in the EFL and b) perhaps nobody above League Two wanted him or were willing to commit to giving him game time.
I’m sure if he does well at Accy the club will try and move him to League One in January.

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
Having read the comments about the difficulty of placing a player who hasn't started a league game, I guess I accept that. However in some ways I can't believe as a Prem club, the best youth talent we have, potentially in years, is only able to find a level at the bottom of league 2. That's quite sobering.

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
That's how it works. Obviously we couldn't get him out a year ago because he was just coming back from the ACL injury but I believe we tried to get him a club last January. I don't think some understand how difficult it is for a player who hasn't played any league football.agreenwood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 10:24 amIt’s easy to say he’s better than League Two, but a) he’s never started a game at any level in the EFL and b) perhaps nobody above League Two wanted him or were willing to commit to giving him game time.

Certainly not the club's fault if this is the best we can get for him. However I do think the loan system is the problem. Incidentally, who was the last player we sent out on loan to actually make it into Burnley's first team?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 10:42 amThat's how it works. Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
Into our first team on a regular basis was probably Jay Rod to be fair although we got player out on loan such as Jimmy Dunne, Bobby Thomas and Josh Benson who played occasionally and were then sold.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 10:48 amCertainly not the club's fault if this is the best we can get for him. I see absolutely no problem with grounding young players this way. I consider it good for their development to work through the leagues, learn off old workhorses that life is not all Champaign and caviar. They will appreciate the good times all the more and are more likely not to be dazzled by the bright lights of stardom when/if it arrives.

I have no idea how much Shelvey cost us, 100% you have no idea either.Mattster wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 9:43 amRelevance to my post? You must be struggling to grasp why nobody in League 1 or Championship has took him with you thinking he is ready for top end Championship lower end Prem squad
Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
I'm surprised Reading didn't take a look at him after his performance there in the cup.

You never know what is going on with a lad, maybe he wants/needs to stay relatively local for reasons we aren't and shouldn't be privy to....
There is also the consideration that we may prefer to have him call into Gawthorpe for whatever reason, again, we don't know.
Good luck lad!

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
Where have I suggested he is ready for the Prem? I suggested he could have managed the 11 Championship minutes that Shelvey did (and the 58 minutes he played vs Preston in the FA Cup) last season. Which would have saved us some money and given the player some more exposure to first team football. Disagree?claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 2:02 pmI have no idea how much Shelvey cost us, 100% you have no idea either.

May even have meant he could have got a loan at a higher level than Accy too.
And yes, I don't know exactly how much Shelvey cost but to have cost under £100k he'd have had to have been on wages of under £5k per week which is obviously not going to be the case when he was on £75k a week in 2024.

Joe Bauress
It is with some regret that this young man is moving to Accrington. When i saw him play i thought he played with all the assurance you might see from a first team player
I wish him well but i believe he would have grown in stature this season.

Funnily enough, i'm not privy to the inner workings of the club. Just presenting a reminder that sometimes there are more factors at play than fans may first realise.

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
There was mention on this thread as to whether Joe had signed in time to play for Accy the other night against Oldham in the League Cup. He wasn't and he won't be in the squad tomorrow either, he's been given a four match ban following an incident in the U21 game against Hull at York.
Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
That sounds incredibly harsh for an u21 game. It must have been pretty severe, dare I ask what he did?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 10:13 amThere was mention on this thread as to whether Joe had signed in time to play for Accy the other night against Oldham in the League Cup. Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
I was at the game and a Hull player went down off the ball so none of us saw anything. But an extremely irate Hull fan was going crazy, hurling abuse at the officials (and I mean abuse). It turns out it was the lad's dad. At half time, just after the incident, the Hull staff were ranting and asking their analysts if they had it on video. It led to exchanges between the two technical areas and I quickly learned that Jack Cork was as able as I am to using bad language.
I was told later that away from play, Joe had smacked him with an elbow and that it was retribution for the Hull lad going over the top earlier in the game. I thought it had all been done and dusted but Joe has said in an interview with Accy that he's serving a suspension so I looked it up.
I found this:
INCIDENT OF MISCONDUCT – NON-STANDARD CASE
Joe Bauress, Player, Burnley FC
Hull City U21 vs Burnley FC U21
Professional Development League - North
25 March 2025
Breach of FA Rule E3.1 – It is alleged that in/or around the 44th minute, you acted in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct, contrary to FA Rule E3.1.
Joe Bauress admits the charge and elects a paper hearing.
RESULT
£1,250 fine
4 match suspension

Sounds quite unsavoury. I always find it ridiculous when parents and coaches are getting involved at that level.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 10:34 amI was at the game and a Hull player went down off the ball so none of us saw anything. No. Accy was the option.
Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
Think it would have put him out of our League cup 2nd round tie if he'd stayed. No idea if that would have had any bearing.

Re: ARTICLE: Bauress joins Accrington
Usually and U21 suspension is served at U21 games - but this was treated differently given the four match ban too.
