Terry Hennessey RIP

Post by claretfern » Fri Aug 08, 2025 9:09 pm

For those of us who are a certain age.
The passing of another player from my youth.
Terry Hennessey. A key player in a much forgotten Nottingham Forest team that reached the semi finals of the FA cup & were runners up in the First Division in 1967...and then went on to become the final piece of the jigsaw, as often described, in Brian Clough's Derby County Championship team in 1972.
39 caps for Wales, some as Captain, would've been much more in the modern era.
Later emigrated to Australia.

R.I.P Terry.
He was a good 'un.
Remember him in that good Derby side too, at the end of his career.

Fantastic player for both Forest and Derby. That Forest side in 1967 was a hell of a side and he was key in that Derby team under Clough.

His much younger cousin Wayne went on to play for Burnley many years later.

Remember the face rather than the name. RIP.

Yes, another part of my youth gone. Vaguely recall watching him but his name stood out.

RIP

I remember him. Used to get songs from the Longside about his boldness. Very good player. RIP

I remember getting football cards or some sort and he stood out with his looks .
Not sure what the cards were but you bought a pack of 3 or 5 and you got a piece of bubble gum with them ?
