Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
There’s no doubt he’s going to have more than a few lucrative contract offers.
He’s just had the season of his life in the Championship so could do more than a job for any of those teams not to mention a couple of Premier League sides.
I’d like to see him move abroad and have a really successful time of it.

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
I've no doubt JB's has had a dilemma. I think his heart was saying us, but his head was swaying him to broaden his horizons. That's why it's taken so long. That said, it's 3 months now and he needs to be making a decision. After all pre season is a key element and if he's to sign for a club in England, he's playing catch up. I still have a hunch he'll finish up at a middle ranking PL team.
Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
I'm sure he'll have a lot of concerns that he's made the wrong call when we kick off on the first day if he hasn't got a club.
Even ignoring all the financial implications etc I bet he's starting to miss the day to day of being around the training ground with the group.

He’s not already at a middle ranking PL team, because they know what we know. He isn’t at that standard, and that’s the full story really.ashtonlongsider wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 12:24 pmI've no doubt JB's has had a dilemma. Good luck to him, but let’s not pretend we’ve missed out on something here. He was a very decent championship midfielder, who tried the PL and failed. We should’ve been the ones to decide his future, not him.

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
If he is not good enough for Premier League and yet was our highest scorer together with assists it doesn’t auger well for the season with the likes of Foster Anthony Flemming Edwards who were way behind him last season being our hopes of scoring goals this season

Sometimes players can be more suited to the EPL than the championship. There isn't always a clear rule that players are better in one or the other leagueDAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 1:56 pmIf he is not good enough for Premier League and yet was our highest scorer together with assists it doesn’t auger well for the season with the likes of Foster Anthony Flemming Edwards who were way behind him last season being our hopes of scoring goals this season

There's some right fatuous crap on here, from people who haven't grasped the difference between the Prem and the Championship.

No offense but what on earth makes you think he ends up at a mid ranking PL club.ashtonlongsider wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 12:24 pmI've no doubt JB's has had a dilemma. He doesn’t even make the bench at clubs like palace, Villa etc…
Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Wherever he goes I hope, for his sake, they keep him away from free kicks and corners on his debut otherwise he won't play again.

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
If he's happy to warm a bench, or the bench behind the bench, there could well be room for him at Everton, West Ham, Newcastle or the like, but that would be a depressingly cynical soulless move

Remember Jeff Hendrick?

A brilliant signing for someone in the Championship serious about promotion-Leicester,Birmingham Wrexham Coventry are the type of clubs who would benefit

Please not Wrexham, Josh.
Sorry, Flynny, but they’re an absolutey tin pot outfit.

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Lots of posters suggesting he's gone for money and will go anywhere if the cash is good,I don't mind where he goes he did a good job for us good luck where ever you end up but please don't consider B@stards.
Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
If he is after the former he definitely won’t be heading to the latter, not that I think he’d even entertain that idea.
Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
He may,if the money was right according to some on here, but he won't because they havnt a pot to plss in

I can't really remember any players who were ok in the championship being even better in the Premier League. It's faster, more physical and its hard to get the ball off far superior players.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 2:03 pmSometimes players can be more suited to the EPL than the championship. Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
In a sense, if Josh did sign for a “safe” mid PL club and have a year as a squad player, without playing many games, we could be going back in for him in a years time, ready for a Championship season…
Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Does anyone else think we did absolutely the right thing here. Josh has tried and to some extent failed in the Prem. With the players we’ve now got I’m not sure he makes the first 11. He would have been our highest paid player so his wages have been repurposed particularly well on the surface at least.
Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Maybe Andy, but on the other hand, he might be looking at who we have signed and how the squad looks and be thinking "*hit, I could have been part of that."
Suspect C.J. might be thinking the same - been a REALLY good window as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
I'd say Mee who looked very good at Championship level was even better when playing in the Prem.Goalkeeper wrote: ↑Fri Aug 08, 2025 7:36 pmI can't really remember any players who were ok in the championship being even better in the Premier League. I think Steve or Walker will be the highest paid players at the Club now.

It's true of Tarky as well. It all depends on potential and its fulfillment. And the latter depends on many factors as we know. Ben Mee was a model professional who worked and worked. And had an exemplary lifestyle.

But a far worse championship player, less of a leader in the dressing room and did far less for the community.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 10:47 amAnd Jeff was a far better PL player than Josh Brownhill

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Nor was Brownhill for the majority of his time here but it was pretty clear that he was a big presence in the dressing room.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 10:53 amLess of a leader? No idea, he wasn't captain though.
Community? Jeff did plenty there I do know.
It's not even comparable as to who offered more to the club. Brownhill was an absolutely key figure in keeping us pointing in the right direction when Dyche went, specially after the 2 relegations.
Hendrick was just a solid pro who'd do a job wherever asked. He's had nothing like the impact of Brownhill on the club.

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Hendrick was a regular in a side that managed to stay in the EPL - not sure we were relegated whilst he was at the club ?
JB was a key player for us too and key in the dressing room. I don’t know if Hendrick was as much as a leader as JB or not - there’s’ a very little of that kind footage available over Dyche’s tenure especially compared to the last 2 or 3 years where everything is filmed so you do see evidence of the bigger characters like JB.
Think both have them have been important players in our recent history who took a step up from their previous clubs and both had the key quality of being pretty consistent and injury free whilst at Burnley which in itself is a big asset to have with the pace and physicality of both the EPL and the championship

Re: Bronwhill confirms departure
Everyone loved to target Hendrick but we weren't as good a side when we left and he did a terrific job for Dyche wherever he played, never more so than when he played in that advanced position in what was a 4-4-1-1 formation in the European qualification season.

The midfield of Cork Defour and Hendrick took some beating
I would have to back quite a few years for us to better it

It's a shame we never got to see Berge in a good side. I think he was right up there with Cork and Defour.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 1:02 pmThe midfield of Cork Defour and Hendrick took some beating

Did we ever see a Cork Cullen Berge 3? If not then it's a shame, they'd have been difficult to get the ball off that's for sure.

Very dependable was Hendrick, wherever he was used. Like CT says he was a big part of that team that got us into Europe.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Aug 09, 2025 12:45 pmEveryone loved to target Hendrick but we weren't as good a side when we left and he did a terrific job for Dyche wherever he played, never more so than when he played in that advanced position in what was a 4-4-1-1 formation in the European qualification season.

I loved both Brownhil and Hendrick and they both produced some great memories at the club. I’m not sure why we need to like only one and slaughter the other though.
