They will be just basing that on Parker’s post match interview. That said, I’d be amazed if we didn’t bring in at least 2 more given the loan slots we are still to make use of.
Or what they've been told they can report, which seems to be the norm nowadays

He mainly played right back at Ipswich and as I said, he hasn’t come here to sit on the bench.
If fit he is an excellent footballer with a good pedigree. With the signings of both him and Walker I really don’t see us signing another right sided defender - especially as we would still have Roberts, Sonne and Sambo on the payroll.
Playing as a right back and a right wingback are two different things. He may well have played right back but more than likely formed a three whilst Leif Davis went marauding forward down the left.

If we needed a wing back, there’s one in Brazil that we still haven’t received money for yet. I’d be asking for him back.

As expected. We have an excellent transfer window and Parker says we're not yet finished - so certain posters complain about the squad size.

If that's aimed at me, I'm not complaining at all. I'm delighted at our transfer window, I don't think it's mad to suggest some outgoings would be good before accommodating new signings. And I'd like to see a few existing squad members given a chance perhaps.

It is a strange thing to be concerned with.

We have players that will have offers lined up if and when it comes to that.

Bottom line, if we get all the players in that we require to stay up and 2 or 3 are still on the wage bill, so be it.

Not aimed at any individual, just general. As a messageboard we love to complain and worry, even when there is absolutely nothing to worry about. It wasn't long ago we had people concerned that we hadn't signed a keeper, central midfielder and forward. That should surely tell people to chill a bit.

I wouldn't worry so much about what people post on this message board. They're entitled to their views on anything and everything BFC related.

If only things were so simple & straightforward. Unpopular opinions in the past have hounded people away from the board or in the very least prompted people to post less. I can think of plenty who have received unnecessary sh1t & disappeared.

People were saying the squad was too big before we signed anybody, and it was. We have no option but to carry players with long term injuries, but far too many were just excess to requirements.
It isn't just that too many players can lead to a divided dressing room, it's the wage bill as well. We have to shed some players, either loan or permanent, but we need to be ruthless about it, and quick.

Whilst your first sentence is obviously correct, I think it’s worth pointing out a few things.
Firstly I wouldn’t anticipate this season that there will be much opportunity to maraud down the wings, unless we want to get cut open like yesterday. The prime role of the full backs will be to defend.
Secondly, if fit, Tuanzebe is powerful and quick and as such would be much less of a liability than Roberts or Sonne. (I won’t even mention Sambo)
And finally, as we’re talking right hand side he could swap with Walker or even interchange during a game.
There’s also the point that we might not always play a back 5 in which case we are well covered at RB / RCB

Leeds apparently after Buendia from Villa and Muniz from Fulham - those would be two great signings for a newly promoted team IMO

It must be better getting the players in before letting some go.
Wouldn't want to be letting players go, and then finding that we couldn't get those we wanted through the door.

Not a link or anything, but was just looking at Kurt Zouma and see that he's currently without a club since leaving WHU. Plenty of Prem League experience and only 30yrs old. Think he would be an excellent signing if we're looking for another CB. However, not sure on his fitness or what wages he'd be looking for.

Also, just thinking about the Burnley representatives at the Chelsea/ Bayer Leverkusen match the other tonight and people assuming we were looking at Nathan Tella as having played for us ( so might be putting 2+2 together maybe?), but see Bournemouth, Sunderland and Wolves are possibly interested in another of their forwards, Amine Adli. Moroccan international but born in France, 25yrs old and can operate across the forward line. However, think I saw a reporter quote that Leverkusen were looking for about £19.5 mill for him. Not sure how much we have left to spend. Or we could easily have been looking at one of their CMs like Palacios or Garcia (although they may well be way out of our reach, as they're both internationals for Argentina and Spain respectively?). However, I did look at the transfermarket site at their current market value which shows that, but no idea how true those figures are.

Just a few thoughts there. Not sure on others thoughts on this?

Scrub Palacios from last comment, as transfermarket showing €40 mill for him, whereas Garcia is showing as €20 mill. Like I say though, no real idea how accurate those figures are.

I have been a huge Buendia fan, just loved watching him at Norwich and them at Villa. It’s a long time since he played a full season though and has looked a different player since injury. If Leeds can get the best out of him he’s an incredible signing but at the moment, with Cullen in our midfield already, I’d probably prefer another big, tall, energetic CM for us.

Agreed
Also if our model is to buy low, develop and then sell high, as clearly stated
Not selling players like Benson, Zaroury when their stock was high when they were highly regarded after a promotion from the championship and letting their value slump whilst seemingly having no plan to use them in the Premier League was not financially astute
On a less obvious level I feel we carry other players in the same way.

Indeed the prime role of our fullbacks will be to defend. However I was talking about wingbacks , whose roles are also to make the pitch big and get forward and offer support.

I’d be amazed if Tuanzebe was to play as a wingback, fullback is another story, but he’s got a hell of a job on moving his competitor from that spot in a back 4

Leeds scored 26 goals more than Burnley during the last Championship season, so the fact that they are looking at improvement in their striker options shows that they recognise how important it is to score goals to have any chance of survival in the PL.

Not sure on the others but for Kurt Zouma -

A very good footballer who'd be a no-brainer (wage demands aside). On a personal level, I wouldn't be able to support a player who has abused animals.

Now, he may and probably will have grown from that, but I don't think I could overlook it.

I've no argument with that, but it doesn't alter we need to get some players out.
We are always, and should be, worried about PSR. How can little old Burnley sustain the 5th biggest squad in Europe.

I assume the net spend so far (with potentially more to come) will be added to our current outstanding debt
As well as getting rid of surplus players (who aren't likely to generate that much in sales) we maybe need to find further outside investment
Were we in a position last year to actually reduce the debt or are we just covering interest payments

Someone in midfield needs to get 5-7 goals to support the forwards, Eriksen could be this person. Plus his set piece delivery is a cut above what we have.

We will get shut of quite a few before the end of the window. Your almost certainly are :
Sambo
Delcroix
Churlinov
Benson
Green
Obafemi
Agyei - loan
Banel - loan
McDermott - loan
Adewumi - loan

Younger lads out on loan and then you’ve got your possibles :

Tresor
Ramsey
Beyer
Sonne - loan

Personally wouldn’t want any of them going out if they are fit, I’d like to see them able to contribute but it’s looking unlikely especially for Beyer and Tresor

The thing to bear in mind also, is that we need a decent under 21 side this year

Easier said than done when some of those players will be earning more with us than they would elsewhere.

Previously spent £45m on Evanison. Incredible what we’re up against!

It would be interesting and probably scary to know if all of the registered senior players received an increase in salary following promotion to the PL

we don't move the ball quick enough, we need 3 signings that fix that.

Some really good, quick, one touch football to break the lines yesterday first half. Of course, we were also missing a £20m midfielder we’ve just signed…

We need to see the players we've bought before concluding that. I hope we don't sign three more players.

The manager and coaches need to see them before we do and it looks like they’ve made their decision.

They have brought in more than £100m by selling Kerkez, Huijson and Jaidon Antony.

Once you are an established club in the PL and around that top 8 or 10 position the recent strategy seems to make 2 or 3 pretty big signings every summer and if you are doing well like Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton etc then you are probably going to lose your best players eventually but these days it’s pretty common place for these clubs to be selling players for £50m plus.

And in the absence of that supporters will discuss on this messageboard and elsewhere. I'll be surprised if three more come in unless we see significant sales.

The manager said yesterday that he still wants to strengthen in two or three areas so it won’t be surprising if the club back him in doing just that. Of course we’ll see many outgoings too.

100% agree. We definitely need to ship some out. We also need to try and stay up. It’s a bit of a balancing act I guess. I personally don’t like big squads as it can get toxic with the players who aren’t involved. I’m sure we’ll see some outward movement before the window closes.

I'm certain we'll see several outgoings - we need to. It will be interesting to get a sense of what additional transfer fee revenue that might bring in.

indeed, but you would imagine Parkers comments aren't about signing "squad" players. Parker knows what is needed more than all of us on here put together so I'll leave it to him :D
