I guess that’s part of the price one has to pay to live in Florida. I suspect you don’t have to travel very far to Liverpool Rd. Having said that I will certainly have watched more Burnley cricket matches than you will have watched House games !

It’s a 7 minute 30 second walk.
I’ll have watched more, relative when I’m your age. Get back to your arm chair.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
I was on but left before the end. Lost a few overs to rain i think so Cronpton must have won with a revised target.
Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
No, it's OK. Colne won by 11 runs - the target of 226 was correct but the number of overs should have said 45, not 46. (Actually I rewatched it, and when the batsman hit 4 off the last ball which made 14 off the last over, he just shook hands and walked off, no bat waving or celebrating. That should have told me who won!)

For anyone interested, in the cup final Burnley are 130/7 off 43 after winning the toss and batting first.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
The Burnley innings was like watching boycott and boycott at the crease for the opening 10 overs. Pitch dead, doing nowt. Some good Rammy fielding, with a great one armed behind the head catch.
Good day out tho…

Finally. Rash shot from JJ Fielding but he's done the damage with 77
Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
Pathetic attempt really, would be fuming as a Burnley cc fan today.
Well done to the club for putting on the day

Up the Rams!
Been so inconsistent this season, but if JJ fires he’s a joy to watch. Couldn’t make it today unfortunately, but hopefully the weather meant a good turnout and local cricket was the winner.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
How does that compare with recent finals?
I know it’s a long time ago but attendances used to be recorded in monetary terms and the 1964 final was over £700 ( I have £713 in my head). That was in the days when it was 2/- entry for adults and 1/- for seniors and kids. The actual attendance was in excess of 10,000.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
Didn’t go right on the pitch but everyone seemed to have a good day off it. Plenty there too. Great fun for the kids and plenty of good food enjoyed with the both trucks selling out by 5pm ish.
Thanks for coming down anyone who did who normally doesn’t.
Rammy worthy winners today, for sure.
The 11th Worsley Cup will have to wait for another year.

You really are a silly man aren't you? Have Burnley CC done you some psychology harm at sometime in the past?
As for the attendance today, I would estimate at least 2000, Pity they weren't able to watch a proper contest. Burnley absolutely battered by Ramsbottom.

The gate fee is split 3 ways, both clubs and the league so it has to be reported.BigRedrose wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 8:48 pmYou really are a silly man aren't you? Have Burnley CC done you some psychology harm at sometime in the past?

Great stuff! Cheers, Bordeaux.
There were a lot on. Last time saw my great Uncle, an old Rawtenstall veteran.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
Just got back from the final and was lucky enough to be a hospitality guest. Fair play to Burnley CC, they put on a incredibly well organised event.
On the pitch, that was a different matter, I thought Burnley were very negative throughout their innings, they didn't seem to take too many risks and the innings of the pro was strange to say the least, he seemed happy to knock the ball about for singles almost thinking Burnley had enough runs on the board.
When Rammy batted it was the polar opposite, Burnley for some reason didn't open with their best new ball strike bowler, and decided to go with the pro who bowls negative leg side off spin, and they never looked like troubling the Rammy batmsen which set the tone for the whole run chase. Have to be honest, it was a damp squib of an final with zero excitement but a very well organised day by Burnley CC.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
I was bang on with that £713 - you couldn't imagine a 10,000 plus crowd now on a Lancs League ground. They had to shorten the boundary that day in front of the pavilion to allow the kids to sit there given more seating room for adults. There were considerably more seats on the ground then at Burnley than there are now.Hopey wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 7:58 pmHere you go CT.
Lowerhouse broke their own record last year. It hasn’t been updated yet:
I suspect that has to still be the record attendance. Burnley, against the odds, lost that one too.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
It was a great day over at Read despite the result for Padiham.
The little lever openers took the game away from us. Both scoring 100s and their sub pro 90.
Their opener Cam Murray has nearly 1200 runs for the season. An Aussie ex pro playing as an amateur.
Padiham's pro had a go back hitting 12 big sixes from his 27 ball innings, scoring 85.
The ground was packed out.

Re: Lancashire League & Worsley Cup this weekend
He had 5 years pro'ing in the Bolton league before staying over here.
He's been an amateur for 10 years. There was a rumour going around he earns more money than our pro, but it's not uncommon for sides over Bolton way.
