Serious player is Semenyo.
Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
Now I am crying! Why couldn't he have had a quiet first game. Guaranteed if I take him off the bench the next game he will do nowt.

You could be right Bournemouth are all over them.Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 9:13 pmReally? The defending for that second goal was woefull, Liverpool are just too big strong and fast. This could be a rout.

Outstanding from Semenyo and fully deserved from Bournemouth. Mental the level of the Prem’s mid table now.

Liverpool’s midfield is non existent.

A bit unnerving to think that Bournemouth are one of the teams we’d need to be picking up points against. They look a level or two above.

Power & Pace is the key in the Premier

How many Liverpool players were offside for their goal?

Lots to like about this game, but the defending has been abysmal.

I think the song ‘They only sing when they’re winning’ was especially written for the Scousers.

Brilliant from Mo.
Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
I agree with that. I remember the first time I went to Anfield years ago. I think we lost 3-0 and they only sang 3 times during the match. Nothing has changed.Holmechapel wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 9:55 pmI think the song ‘They only sing when they’re winning’ was especially written for the Scousers.

Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
Both of those teams are packed full of powerful runners. Obviously Liverpool players have the better quality, but there wasn't much between the two in terms of physicality and pace. That's frightening as a mid-table team.
The good news is that as Premier League teams put so much effort into pressing, they tend to look quite open. Getting into their half will be the challenge.

didn't play well, scored 4........
Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
Yep. You don't see many atmospheres like that these days.
It's a special club.
Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
Bournemouth can't defend. They will be in the mix

Bournemouth won’t be defending away to teams like Liverpool too often

Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
Just finished it on a delay.
Both sides were a shambles defensively. Not convinced Liverpool will win the league now. Issues with their entire back four. Whereas AFCB were energetic but also way too open and having sold their entire defence I’m not convinced they have enough if Semenyo gets injured up front. They’ll be bottom 8 this time but may get more wins than West Ham, Everton etc due to their flair.
Also, that handball was for me a clear red, the guy deliberately palmed it away and there was a clear, albeit long, run at goal.

Re: Tonight's Football. Season opener
Their back line has just recently been cobbled together. They will be fine, as they improve with familiarity. The coach gets good footballers who can play as he wants them to. They won't be in the bottom 6.

It must be said though that Bournemouth certainly gifted 3 of the Liverpool goals Dave(?) I hope that defence plays against us at the Turf.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 10:08 pmBournemouth won’t be defending away to teams like Liverpool too often
