Russell Martin

Post by Milltown1882 » Tue Aug 19, 2025 8:23 pm

Absolute car crash of a time at Rangers so far and currently 3-0 down to Club Brugge after 20 minutes.

Surely the writing is on the wall for him up there already, the sad thing is though there’s no doubt someone else will snap him up because of his ‘philosophy’.

Have thought for a while that job could suit Dyche.

Pretty incredible what some people can blag themselves into.

Talks a good game in front of a boardroom, no doubt, and is exceptionally good at deflecting genuine criticism.

Awful brand of football which I think, thank god, the modern game is starting to leave behind.

Agreed - tailor-made for him really.

It’s so weird how rapidly a reputation can be blown up.

He’s managed less than 30 games between the play of win over Leeds and Rangers fans calling for his head.

Strange appointment. He won’t see the season out.

If he doesn't get a win against St Mirren this weekend, loses on aggregate to Brugge and then loses to Celtic, he might not see August out!

I'd dread it if Burnley appointed him. He just won't ever compromise on insistence that his defenders must play it out from the back on every occasion and the players must be spread out as far as possible. I read that his Rangers side have given up something like 120 shots against them in just 8 matches so far. They're hardly playing world beaters up there.

Rangers were coasting early on and went 3 down yet didn't batter and eyelid.

Perhaps that's a signal from the players that it is time he went.

They bucked up 2nd half but maybe their point was made.

He plays such a predictable game with inadequate players for it. only the world's best can be mostly safe, playing out.

The next media darling to get canned is Potter another who manages to get good jobs on one success at Swansea.

To be fair, he's also got Lucy Pinder, so whatever's going on at Rangers he's winning.

A very strange appointment. Rangers need someone who is pragmatic and can galvanise them. This show pony is another overhyped fashionable manager. He won’t last too long the fans already are on his back and they don’t mess around.
