Positives - good off the ball shape, retaining the ball fairly well, Foster shown some decent movement and finish for the harshly disallowed goal, Lesley grown into it

Negatives - Larsen been fairly woeful on the ball, general lack of final third spark, Cullen not been as effective today

Bad decision on the disallowed goal. Big Les has to careful on the run in behind - only time they've looked a threat. Fozzy linking well again.

Please take JBL off for Edwards. Also look totally devoid of an no10. Far too deep and Foster completely isolated on most occasions. Not good this

JBL was often slotting in at RB when we're defending with Walker tucking in. He seemed to be very deep.

A couple of incidents to get a little bit excited about in that half...Fosters disallowed goal and a golden chance spurned by Anthony. Apart from that the rest has already been erased from memory. Hopefully a better 2nd half awaits and we're offered something a bit more entertaining and exciting.

Anthony has to do better there - his finishing is my only gripe against him.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Sonne come on for JBL, who's struggling a bit in that RWB role.

I think that Ramsey and Edwards will see the field around 60-70 mins.

They have had two good chances and both using pace from midfield
We just don't have any

JBL seems to be spending most of his time at RB in our half, with Walker more central.

Just my thoughts

JBL - doing the job he has been told to do.
Hanibal - always walks a thin line but does it well
Foster - looking sharp and tidy overall
Steve just being Steve
Les - liking his poise. Need a bit more bite and forward ball. But looking good.
Ekdal - steady.

Crying out for a bit of creativity though

I like Hannibal and I can see what he offers us off the ball but he’s so incredibly limited in possession. I’m starting to think a creative number 10 could be a fairly important position that needs filling from the 2 games we have seen so far.

Not overly impressed with that half. Struggling to see how we'll score enough goals.

Wildcard, but with Cullen not having one of his better games could we put Hannibal deeper with Lesley, then put Edwards in the 10 and replace JBL with Tchaouna?

Fosters having a great game. Man of the match so far.

Underwhelmed with Les so far. Hasn't moved the ball quick enough and looks a deeper player than first thought. Next to Cullen we are far too deep in the centre.

That Ugo looks impressive. Don't think he lost or gave the ball away once that half. Hannibal working his socks off, as is Foster. Just lacking that cutting edge.
Lost it once but his legs are about 3 metres long so he won it back.

To me everything hannibal is good at is more useful further back. He just isn't someone who can play that killer pass or arrive in the box to score

Not that he is having a poor game but if we want to win we should not be playing with two defensive cm's

I think when Borja is fit and I have said it before would play Foster as one of the wide men as our wingers have not looked threatening in two games now

Very mediocre 1st half.
Doesn't feel like a Premier League game.

Atmosphere feels tense too.

Honestly I would probably play foster in ten. He picks the ball up well and attacks the space. Not sure how his passing will be in that role but I think it’s worth a shot

If he's had a set-back, and that's why he hasn't made the bench (Parker hinted he'd be at least on the bench), then we need another forward. I think we need one on loan anyway before the window closes.

It’ll take a little while to click, like last-season, and until it does it won’t be exciting, like last-season.

Just glad we are not playing one of the better PL teams. Can’t see us scoring with current eleven so will prob lose 0-1.
Please tell SP we are at home so get Edwards or whoever on and go for it. These are games we have to win

Did the referee and his assistants, just for one moment think about their attire when leaving the dressing room?

It's not like Sunderland are playing in black shorts and socks.

Agree about the mediocrity but I think our defence and midfield do look PL. it’s up front we are lacking in PL quality. Sadly we haven’t got the money to do much about it.
